Uber-Hogs!?!

My money says that ...I dont make the top ten.:o

Like they say, 'Hogs are a sneaking bunch!"

Im still a piglet.

Now, there are a lot of other things I am good at ...like eathing and drinking;)

see, my typo proves it:D:p

I wouldn't consider myself a 'collector'... rather a buyer in search of the perfect knife. Now, that being said. A man needs a dedicated chopper. I think we'd all agree to that. And a good all purpose hunting knfe. Maybe a skinning knife, too. Everyone needs a bushcrafter... And what about a SHTF knife, gotta have that. I also like a good backpacking knife that can fill all the above roles, but none specifically. Naturally, I am not going to list all the tasks I feel I need a dedicated knife for... don't want those guys with the strait-jacket coming for me... (again). ;)

And once you think you have that all covered, a new model comes out that might be just a tad better at one of the above tasks. So you buy it. Try it. And throw one back in the trough. Still, sometimes Jerry and the gang just absolutely NAIL one. A knife that is purrrrrrfect. When that happens I am forced to buy at least two. You know, just to make sure I don't run out. They are limited runs ya know! And I happen to also have TWO hands... one for each??? maybe.

So... as you see, I am not a collector. Simply a admirer of fine knives in an everlasting search for great users. See how easy it is to justify buying cool knives... :D

That's all...

Oh.. but I have happened to wind up with some pretty cool stuff along the way. :D

.

I gotta agree with T... I may have a lot in quantity because I have a lot of duplicates, but very little of the older models. I also doubt that I'm near the "top ten". Heck, I'll bet that Game Wardens make up a third of my collection easy! :o

Just yesterday I was on Bad Mojo and saw Andre DuMouchel's Busse collection at that time. I don't know anything about him or his collection, current status, whether he is a member here or anything else, just that the Bad Mojo site said he was a Busse rep at some point.

THAT...is impressive! :eek::thumbup:

That man from Ham Francisco has quite the tasty collection as well... ;)

Looks very similar to a Dragon's Fang, but this one has a pronounced Tanto tip, smooth bolts and no finger grooves like the other I have seen.

Andre is still around. He post occasionally, but under his stage name.;) As I recall, his collection has dwindled some. Paying for a long move and some going to his children if I recall correctly. I believe he still is considered an Uber HOG, and I don't think the status is always about your current collection size.

Thanks, yes he did post that he gave a couple dozen Busse knives away.

BTW, I was referring to the status of his collection i.e. whether he still has it, not to his status as any type of Hog. :D

It's a drug.

That wasn't meant to be so pointed.:o I just know we have a lot of titles around here. Some are sensitive about them, some have earned them and most are not very clear. I just think anybody with that kind of clout as a collector/dealer/knowledge-base is an Uber Stealthy Yeti HOG.:D My own $.02.
But, back to what we are really talking about.(I am so easily side tracked by my own little thoughts:rolleyes:) Yes, it would be interesting to see how Andre's and others collections have morphed one way or the other.

That is a impressive collection. Owning that many knives does not appeal too me however, I would certainly like to just look at all the different model's from over the year's from a historic viewpoint.:)
