UC Rambo knives - quality or crap?

Why would anyone in there right mind even consider getting a knife in 420J2, i mean really, it would roll the edge chopping wood for crying out loud. 440A is bad enough but 420J2 is just useless unless its just going to be a wall hanger and NEVER see any actual use.

Ok, seems like the Rambo knife is real bad quality. I thought that since I'll do light work with it, it'll hold its edge, but looks like it probably won't. I'm looking into the Buckmaster 184 now. It's still much more than I want to pay, so I'm waiting to find a good deal. Thanks guys.

Go to the exchange forum (see top bar) and place an ad under Knives/Wanted to buy. The 184 are becoming a somewhat collectable but you should be able to find a sub-mint user for less.

Other good production hollow handled knives include:
1)Randall Made Knives models 17 and 18
2)Chris Reeves (about a dozen models all in very good A2 steel). All feature solid 1 piece construction and first rate leather sheaths.
3)Aitor Jungle King I (a couple of different flavors and enough gagets to impress even Rambo), the secondary utility knife is a nice feature.
4)AL Mar SF-10 a giant survival knive with a red cord wrapped handle. It looks like a Rambo Knife with a 10" blade. (discontinued)
5)Gerber BMF - probably the Buck 184's closest rival. No hollow handle but an interesting example of the type (discontinued)
6)Buck model 184 - You either hate or love the Buckmaster. It is heavy, and actually does include a pair of (boat- some say they are to help you climb fences?!?) anchors.(discontinued)
