Needless to say, we're all excited. Especially with Crucible having problems, it'll be nice to test out some alternatives.
What is the deal with Crucible, Firebert?

Sounds like it is targeted at users looking for high resistance to adhesive wear, but with claimed higher hardness, higher abrasive wear resistance, and higher resistance to chipping than D2 or M2, I'd like to try it in a thin cutter.
Vanadis 4 Extra is surprisingly tough for how much carbon it has, at least according to Uddeholm's numbers. I would place it between 3V and CPM-M4, less tough than 3V but tougher than CPM-M4 and less wear resistant than M4 but more so than 3V. This is of course without testing. Vanadis 4 Extra has around 8% carbide volume, 3V around 3-5% and CPM-M4 around 12% carbide volume. 3V and Vanadis 4 Extra only have vanadium carbide where CPM-M4 has vanadium and molybdenum/tungsten carbide.I wonder how Vanadis 4 extra will compare to CPM M4, too much carbon for 3V comparisons.
Thank you for the info Fredrik.
You make knives in both vanadis 4E and Chipper/Viking.
How do these compare to each other?
