Uggghhh... I am really starting to hate grivory...

The bolts aren't really my problem, but the grivory is. I need new grivory because I cannot afford micarta right now.
methinks you are still missing the point our young friend so I'll elaborate

bolts and nuts are hardened steel, harder than your 1095, reason he said engine bolts is many rookies have stripped their aluminum(soft) engine block and heads. very expensive to fix.

if you overtighten any bolt in just about everything it is going to crack, jam, split, strip, break........

Tighten to where you feel good tension and snug 1/8 turn

Just trying to save your newly donated scales and possibly any car or self assembled ikea furniture.

Regards

You have no idea. You could do what I do, just buy what I want and tell the wife I "traded" for it. Which isn't really a lie I just don't say I traded money for it. :D

that there just changed my knife buying strategy. smart, smart man.

I want upgrade a few of my Becker handles to micarta too. All of mine (so far) are the older Camillus versions. Will the ones sold by KaBar fit on them?

you can use a fitted washer and then that should do it.

you could also fill the handle voids with fiberglass/epoxy goo, and your local auto parts store for cheap, or even bondo and in the case of that middle screw hole (not nut hole), fill that too after you seat a washer maybe, then drill for size. sand flush and flat on the insides much more solid feeling...

if you can afford it, the epoxy glass bead beeding material would be the shiznitz... but chopped glass fiber mixed with slow cure epoxy would be fine.

get a torque wrench ;)

Those are very good points, if you tighten them to much they will mess up. :l

And, in fact, I am 29 and I am a police officer in a small town in Cantukee.

I was actually typing up a word document about the MrKnife"Kid" philisiphy. then when I am done, I am gong to copy and paste it and make a thread about it.

Two things.
1. Micarta!!!!!!
2. Get the stainless hardware like I use, and that will never happen again to your grivory.
