Ugh, bad Spyderco related press.

The one thing I got from that story was that the idiot in chief was on his way to camp david, yet another vacation?

No such thing as bad press :P

Think about how many people are reading this article and thinking "Spyderco eh....?"

Doesn't help that they are calling the Dragonfly the "VG-10" but hey, bless their hearts, they're tryin :p

The Spyderco Dragonfly does not have a 3.5 inch serrated blade, which is the style mentioned in the article. I suspect that it might of been a Spyderco Matriarch 2, considering that would meet the 3.5" VG-10 serrated blade description.

About the whole article in general...very confused in how a guy just was able to get up to the White House door so easily without that much trouble.

Not to nitpick, but the Dragonfly does come in a serrated blade model.

The point being, I wouldn't place too much stock in ANY of these "details".
He may not have even had a Spyderco...
I'm just going off the picture from the original Daily Mail article, but there's just as good a chance they used the wrong picture as there is that the 3.5" blade detail is totally false.

Not sure why you are declaring it the Matriarch 2. Spyderco must have about 2 dozen models that have a roughly 3" serrated VG-10 blade.
Could have been any of them, since none of the details are solid.

Matriarch 2 was the only one that I found with a 3.5" serrated blade in VG10( hence the word might), and both the article linked and the Daily Mail mention that it was a Spyderco with a VG10 serrated blade. Of course, the fact that any of the details mentioned were in fact false is entirely possible, and I was only making an educated guess considering that two different articles both conveyed the same information about the blade. In another post about the same topic I mentioned that if you google "spyderco VG10" that same image of the dragonfly is the second image that comes up. My guess was that whoever wrote the article typed up that( or a similar) search query into an image searching browser and just thought that image was good enough for them. Of course, all of this is based off of my assumptions from the current information that I have viewed and I would not be surprised if I was wrong in any of the points that I have made.

It obviously was NOT a matriarch. Do you really believe that if the guy had been carrying something as wicked looking as a matriarch that the press would have passed up the opportunity to smear those pictures everywhere? My guess would be just a Delica or Endura, but who knows. Don't reckon it really matters. Im going fishing.

Yeah, I guess your right. I was just curious on what he was carrying since I thought it odd that the press went so far as to give a decent amount of details on the knife he carried. Typically all you get is, "he had a knife".

If they can't tell the difference between the steel used in the blade and the model of the knife, what makes anyone think they can measure the damn blade length. Media people today are lacking in their ability to check facts and follow up on answers given to them.*

*At one time I worked in the newsroom of a daily newspaper. Things have changed in the quality of reporters since Woodward and Bernstein.

Bush still beats him on vacation time.....Bush took way more, but I am sure it didn't mater to you back then.

They probably thought VG-10 is the model number.

"Spyderco VG-10 folding knife with a three-and-a-half inch serrated blade"...
"carrying a deadly or dangerous weapon".

There's only one story here and it has nothing to do with the pocket knife and the intruder.

Not only this, the g-darn ATMOSPHERE WAS COLLAPSING, and the man reached for a Spyderco.

If that isn't good knife selling press, I dunno what is.

The knife is inconsequential. I'm sure it's just part of his EDC like a phone and wallet.

If he didn't have a knife, the media would have said "He had a really mean look on his face!" or "His boots were very aggressively styled!"
Anything to create a little drama.
