My push button starter on my gas BBQ on my deck wouldn't ignite the gas one day a year or so back. No worry - Firesteel! Oops - wouldn't throw a spark far enough. Plan B - those goopy dryer lint balls in film cannisters to keep the petroleum based goop from evaporating. Lit it with the firesteel on the grill. Flamed - then black smoke - small black plastic wad on grill - and I forgot to open the gas! The dryer lint was mostly synthetics - hard to get off the grill, too.
I went inside and stripped a bunch of Q-tips - dipped in nose-clearing menthol goop. It ignited - but the gas bottle proved to be empty. I fried the burgers inside - gave the BBQ to my b-i-l - seven+ years and the second bottle of gas was empty - I didn't use it much. I need to buy some matches.
