Ugliest and best looking Spydercos of all time?

Ugliest...da Toad...a new one should arrive any day now.

Purteeist...da PE SS Cricket...got a whole infestation of them.

I used to think that the Shabaria was without a doubt the Uuuggliiessst!! Spyder out there. But there is a new term I have learned out of all of that. It is called "engineering beauty". If functionality has a beauty to it then I have to remove the ugly label from the Shabaria. I have 2 of these beauties and I wish I had 12 of them.

As far as aesthetic beauty my 3 favorites are the Massad Ayoob, Ocelot & Spyderhawk.

Actually I don't think there is a TRULY UGLY Spyder in the line up. At least in the eye of this BEHOLDER

The ugliest Spyders are for me the best looking Spyders ;)

So I love the looks of the Gunting, Dodo, Rescues, Toad ect..:D

Best looking for me is the Persian, especially the 75 mm Persian.

Ugliest has got to be the Firebyrd.

best looking if it ever makes it out would be the volpe-
and im not so sure there is such a thing as a ugly knife

Huh, that's a tough one. I used to think the ATR is ugly, till I've seen some good pics of it
Now I think the most beautiful is Ed Schempp's Persian (full size) . But the Karambit is butt ugly, never got used with it :(

I agree with you in principle, but there is deffinately such thing as an ugly knife, and I've made my fair share. Check out: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=380400 for some winners.

Haha some of those are pretty funny...nothing like the duct tape wrapped handle and hand ground galvanized steal knife I made as a teenager...that would have been the ugliest...no pics though...that horror was laid to rest long ago. ;)

I find beauty in all the Spyderco knives, one way or another so no ugliest from me.
Most beautiful must be the PE Lum Chinese Folder or the Volpe.
I think Lum Chinese as nr. 1 with the Volpe a Good second.

It to say something is ugly when the designs serves so much function.
Ugly for fuction - Dodo
Ugly just to be ugly - Spyker

I don't have an ugliest opinion but for me the mose beautiful is the Anniversary Delica with mosiac damascus bolsters and polished blade. It is a truly handsome piece.

IMHO, the fugliest is also one of my favorites, the Scorpius---the thing makes me think of some wildly growing tumor

The original Enduras are probably a close second.

The best looking is the Persian.

I think the ugliest is the polywog, yuck:barf: The best looking is my Santa Fe Dino bone Kiwi or my SE JD Smith!:D Thats a knife.

Best looking is very easy for me. Ed Schempp's Persian, gets my vote. I'd consider it the hands down winner in that department. Closest second is the C27 Horn, but it looses "degree of difficulty" points for not having incorporate a hole.

Ugliest is a bit harder, since I can think of two distinct types of "ugly". First those knives that just look weird. Gunting would be my prime candidate there, as it looks odd both open and closed. The other category would be an otherwise decent looking knife ruined by some specific feature which could just as easily have been omitted. The gross looking shell inlays that disfigured the black G10 Natives would make them my choice in that group.

Best looking is easy: C22 Walker

Worst looking....boy there are so many :):
C59 Shabaria
C60 Ayoob
C79 Assist Rescue
...just do name the most obvious....

but the Yojimbo and Dodo are pretty high on that list as well and both are fantastic designs!
