That M9LE is a fun knife to beat on - especially in a big ole log with a gnarly knot that's twisting and torquing that differentially tempered blade :thumbup:

I LOVE my Battle Rat! I have no action shots...yet...but when I get it reprofiled and air bleeding sharp, I will do so. This is my magic combo: black on black Battle Rat, and the tan Tramp!

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but does anyone know anything about the tan handled (black blade) Battle Rats?! Year of release, price, heat treat, ect? Thanks guys.

The black/tan battle rats were released two years ago, I believe. I don't recall the price but they were pretty inexpensive...$129 or similar. They are through hardened as opposed to the differentially tempered unicolor ones.

IMO, the differential tempering added some assurance when batoning and large prying, but I don't think it was really necessary. I would probably prefer the through hardened ones if I could get over the ugly color combo.
