Ugly -- Email Pyramid Scheme from one of our favorite dealers

I've received some spam from one of the folks who is well known here. I know that some others of you here at BF have also received it, since you're on the distribution list.

This is a pyramid scheme that uses PayPal. Basically, it involves sending the $5 you get from PayPal for signingup to the top person on the list, and then adding your name to the bottom of the list.

Whether or not this thing is legal is very questionable. At the very least, it is unethical to use your mailing list for this.

Mr. Dealer, you know who you are. Please use this opportunity to offer your public apology whose trust you abused.

Interesting Topic....... I wonder if this will be the start of another debate over this person's questionable behavior... I could be wrong about who it is though...let's wait and see..

I got the e mail in question from the "certain dealer". SAD...I deleted it as quick as I could ! :{

I got that email about a week ago and killed it on sight. I wonder how he generated his list of BFC forum members to send it to?

I forget Who the sender was. Since this is GBU, remind me, please. I want to avoid this guy.

I'm not going to post his name yet, since I'd like to give him a chance to come forward with an explanation.

However, I am emailing the name to those of you who expressed an interest in knowing who it was.

i did it. and i sent it to the people that i knew. i didnt make a list. i went through my contact list and sent it to the people that i knew. not everyone on the list just the ones that i thought my like tobe envolved. im begining to see that people that you assume are friends truely are not. unless they happen to need you for something. i didnt have to pass it on to anyone here but since it was working so well for me i decided to let the rest of you in on it as well. im very sorry all of you were offended.
however i thought my friends would like this opertunity. now i see i had no friends to send this to. no problem. however for the record i sent this out like i was supposed to
and ive gotten a 4915.00 balance so far doing it. and ive paid everyone as i was supposed to as well. it not a joke it does work just fine. and not just from people sgning up through my paypal link either the rest of it works just fine.

Damn...well, I am, by no means, the right person to be saying this, but Mark has done a lot for most of us, and I'm sure we all know that he is really a good guy. He's been through a lot already, and I hope things get better for him. Would it be possible to "forgive" him for what many of you feel to be another mistake? He admitted it...and said he was sorry. $hit happens ya know? I know most of you are sick of me standing up for Mark, but I will do so until the end. I hope you all understand where I'm coming from, as a friend of Marks. Thanks for listening to my opinion.

The reason I didn't post Mark's name was because I had a feeling that he really didn't understand that all pyramid schemes eventually cheat somebody. His response reinforces that opinion. I believe Mark when he says he was trying to do something good. I've sent him a private email to try and explain things. Hopefully, we have not lost Mark from these forums.

Mark made his [good] reputation by running an honest business, and I think that he deserves the benefit of the doubt. I have done business with Mark in the past, and I will continue to do business with Mark in the future.

Mark, thanks for coming forward about this. I'm sure you thought you were really trying to help people. And I beleive that you have made money on this. However, these things Always have losers. It just the nature of this kind of thing. Eventually, some folks (maybe a lot of folks) are going to get burned.

I don't know you, and have never done any business with you. It's not true that we are friends, but neither are we enemies.

This kind of thing is against the rules of BFC. That mailing was Spam, pure and simple. Please understand, I don't hate you, nor I think, do others posting in this thread. I think it was courageous of you to admit to this, but you're angry, you're all ganging up on me, kind of response does not help. Chill out man. Just don't do it again.

Didn't PayPal just recently drop the referral money and if they did the whole thing is moot.

Read my post in the Good, Bad, & Ugly about being ripped off by using PayPal and maybe you'll think twice about even using them.

I will start out by saying that I like Mark alot. I have got some great deals from him. All I can say is that if you don't want to do the paypal pyramid thing don't do it. Mark is not forcing you to do it. Just delete the email. If I was a gambling type of guy, I would probably do it, but I don't gamble, never have, never will. Give Mark a break, he has had it rough. I forgive him, won't you?

what of this is against the rules. i never sent e-mail to every bladeforum memeber. they were on my list . i never broke any of the precious bladeforum rules. the only way this even got to the forums was from a member other then me posting it here. i havent broke any rules here.
and for another thing the fact remains every time someone had a problem in the last 2 months they ran here. did anyone talk to me first espeacially now. oh no.......they came here and told the whole freakin world about it then a few emailed me about it. well if they can come in here and basically ruin me then why cant i come in and ruin me it seems only fair to me. whats good for one should be good for all. and yes i know i said i wouldnt be back but. I BROKE NO BLADEFORUM RULES PERIOD. and you say chill out why? give me one good reason why? i had people i concidered friends turn around and do this.

ill tell ya whats sad im wanting to quit cause im just not likeing it anymore. all this kind of stuff always going on. the money is good but not to put up with all the nonesense. i could have went to work digging ditches this mourning and enjoyed it better.

I agree, Mark. It is pathetic.
I have done one deal with you and it turned out great. But, you should realize that THERE IS NO FREE RIDE. And, YOU DON'T GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING.
As a reputable dealer who in the past has displayed a good bit of maturity, I would have expected you to be aware of these basic truths.
However this turns out; and whether you remain a dealer who uses the forum, I wish you the best.

Allright Mark, maybe it's not the most perfect example of breaking forum rules. But I got your email. Why am I on your list?

I have never attacked you before. I did not mean to attack you today. I did just delete the email and honestly had forgotton all about it until I saw this thread.

I would like you to stay here at BFC. I would like you to succeed in your business. I do not enjoy beating up on people and I am sorry you feel I have. I will read some of the threads here in GBU about/by you to try and understand where you are coming from. But the kind of post you just made does not do you, or anyone else, any good at all. Maybe your behavior has been partly at fault in all of this (I really don't know, having not paid any attention at all to your controversies). I'm sorry you have had such a hard time recently. Just slow down. Take a break from the forums for a while, at least until you are not posting so emotionally.

Making these dire, damn it all I give up posts doesn't help anything. I don't really even care much about this issue. Maybe you shouldn't either. I'm sorry to have gotten involved in this thread. Best wishes to you and yours.

I got the message, and it was only sent to 25 people - In my world that is hardly spamming. I'm sure a dealer like Mark has access to a whole lot more than 25 e-mail addresses. Also, I didn't see an e-mail address that matches Paracelsus address. Unless he is using a different address than the one he uses for bladeforums - which would not have been obtained form here making the rules thing a moot point. Or, Mark could have sent out more than one e-mail. I don't know but all the other people who said they recieved it here are included in the message I got.
