I finally made it into the woods to do a little foraging to see what is up.
The morels aren't up yet but the ramps are.

Here's a few ramps

A nice pic of some clean ramps about to be cut

Cut up with the Woodsman, which makes a very nice kitchen knife as well as an outdoor blade

Though the morels weren't up I still had some that I dried last year and re hydrated to mix in.

Morels and ramps fried in a little butter and tossed with linguine is kick a$$

I hope you enjoyed my first post in WSS. I've lurked for a while here and after I got the Woodsman I thought I would share :D

Great stuff man I'd love to see more foraging stuff on here.... is a Ramp similar to a Leek?

Looking good! I love leeks-very flavorful. The knife looks stangley familiar...oh here's mine right next to me!

Great pictures - those look extremely tasty. Grab a few of those trout lily leaves for your salad!

It looks like there's also some Cut-leaved Toothwort (Dentaria laciniata) in that picture.

Awesome...I hear they are up here, gonna get out wedsday and see for myself. Im not buying it yet...Gonna have to gather some leeks if they are up though. I still have morels from last season as well.....

Great pics, and a kick ass blade Bro!

I dug up some about a week ago, My area looks just like yours, just loaded with them, I think Ive eaten some with every meal since, going again later this week, Hoping to find some morels also. Great pics !!

Man, they look delicious too! COOL!!!

I went out today and found a TON of leeks in my local woods-bumming area! They're getting sauteed w/butter and garlic, served with some Tilapia. There was so much there, I'll be set for a long, long time.

My ramps are up but they aren't native in my area. Only higher in the mts.

There are morels up now though. I live in SW WV
