I left the blade at full thickness so as to do as much as I can to avoid warping during the quench. It'll look fairly normal once the primary bevel is ground through the swedge once the blade is hardenedI am so confused and intrigued by the edge grind lines and the blade shape.
And that is why I leave the knife making up to you. Makes perfect sense. Thanks for the info.I left the blade at full thickness so as to do as much as I can to avoid warping during the quench. It'll look fairly normal once the primary bevel is ground through the swedge once the blade is hardened
well, I decided to take the plunge today and signed up for a 3 year membership and my own little subforum.LA, brother, it all looks good, and it makes me think. With your new career focus moving from the bike shop into the leather and full-time knife making, I would really like to see you get your own sub here on BF. First off, this is not because I don't love you posting here, I hope you still would. That said, you are generating so much good content that it would be fantastic for all of it to be concise and in one spot for fans of what you do and for you own brand to show what you have done already and are working toward in the future.
You have the leather work which I know first-hand is top notch. You have your sole authorship knives of you own design that you are putting out, which look great and your narratives about what goes into them are wonderfully informative. Additionally, you have so many collabs, past and present, many of which, folks may not even know about. Just to name some off the top of my head, of course there is Nathan, now Mark, Bing, Boker, Lightfoot, Wheeler, Marchand, Branson, DesRosiers, Keffeler, Mecha and others I know I am forgetting, and probably even more I don't even know about. I know you have over the years made most of that content available on BF but is all scattered in different subs or worse yet, as single posts in specific threads, making it harder to refer to later on.
Maybe you think I'm nuts, you know I love what you have going on, I'd just like to see you plant a flag and stake a claim. I think what you are doing is worthy of it, it would be beneficial to those who appreciate your content and I think it would be beneficial to the growth of your career. I am betting it would be well received across the BF Community.
Hell yeah!!well, I decided to take the plunge today and signed up for a 3 year membership and my own little subforum.
Since I don't really have a lot of time to do foruming, (and to the relief of probably many of you) I will likely be spending almost all my time tending to it and far less time here.
Also, wrt my carpet bagging in this forum, as I work through this folding knife I'll be posting updates there. Among other non CPK related projects.
Many thanks to Nathan for allowing me to be my inappropriate self here in his forum!
I'll definitely be visiting you CoCKS fairly regularly, so don't take this to mean I'm outta here. Not sure when things will kick in for my little slice of paradise, but I'm pretty excited to get going there!
ThanksGrenock for the suggestion and encouragement, it never occurred to me to take this step and it's a big one
