I am all ready to go tommorow, sadly Jack cant make it.

I have gone all old fogey and packed a flask, tea, coffee, biscuits the lot.

It will be rammed tommorow and there will big lines for the grub and drinks, I can just take a break sitting in my car.

I will take lots of photos for you mostly of knives and post on my return.

"If there is anything you would like me to take a picture of or look out for let me know and I will do my best to find and photograph it"

As yet undecided what to carry maybe my 15 and cadet for a few tools or just my old 77 SAK soldier, its not as if I wont buy anything. 🤭

My first port of call will be the stall I got the CJ from last year (if he's there of course).

I dont know where to start it was first class today.

Friendly and relaxed I even met Paddy Peelers from youtube and others.

My pictures cant do it justice.

I went straight to Robert from the USAs stand where I bought lots last year.

My kind of stuff mostly old, used and very practical, lots of military as well.

It was terrible I wanted to buy everything, I put a load in a bag then at the end of the show he worked out a price for them all (he was busy).

Then he had the audacity to reveal his Case collection some for sale, all boxed all immaculate I had to stop it was to much.

What he had with him he revealed was the tip of the iceberg,he couldn't bring it all.

He also has a great knowledge which I tried to tap,I wish Jack had been able to make it he could have guided me. 😇

Did I really turn down that old vintage Finnish Pukko, yes and more besides I could cry.😂

I found another CJ this one was pocket worn you can just see the saw cut that was worn down.

They are built very so well,so smooth handles and joints, just a bit of wobble from use but I love it.

Ah but what about this NOS Lambs foot from Rodgers it cost a pretty penny more than the CJ,its a time capsule knife.

If I remember the story correct its from a shop in London that closed in 1986,it still has its 1980s price tag on the blade.

It did have some gilt writing on the handle that has disappeared with time.

It is flawlessly smooth with brass liners, dead centre and a lovely action.

A real tribute to Sheffield knife making at its best.

There was a time when this was the norm and nothing worth commenting on,it was expected.

more to come I bought other stuff,I have started cleaning allready.🤭

That would be a fun afternoon cleaning those.just spent some time reading about sheffield rise and fall.i can't understand why know one has stepped in to build on the old reputation and put quality first.those old videos of a few cutters on those lambfoots is a thing of beauty. Keep a stiff upper lip and carry on mate.

……….it’d be really good to meet up with you some time - we can both talk knives and biking **** ..!

If you were there today, I was the guy walking around with a big fat camera.

As part of the team assisting with organising the event, took a few pics of the tables before the doors opened…

Sounds like a great day John, and you got some very nice treasures there :) I am still sad about not being able to meet up with you, (particularly after going through the hurdles of booking a hotel, train ticket, and admission to the event). I'm glad you were able to find another CJ to match your Lambsfoot, and that's a smashing Rodgers Lamb too :)

It's a fool's errand unfortunately :( Ask me how I know!

Ian Bailey is a part time maker who enjoys creations along the Loveless style. Also to his credit, he made the big knife used in Rambo II (will see if I can find a pic)
I was hoping to meet you too Paul :)
………this is Robert I Iron Hoarder from the ‘States, been living in UK for many years now - specialises in used stuff - lovely fella
