UKPK Leather Sheath

Hi guys,

I'm just interested to know whether those of you with a UKPK would buy a leather sheath if there were one specifically made for it??

I'm into leather working, and I made a sheath for my dad's Salt 1 which he is really pleased with... it is hard wearing and looks professional...

Thing is, I don't wanna run off a batch if no-one wants them... I know I would want one... as its a legal carry knife in the UK, I figure that its better than making a sheath for an illegal folder you can't carry... that way sticking it on your belt wouldn't be an issue...

If I'm to sell them on here then I need to go Gold, which I've tried before but my MO went astray in the US, so haven't tried since...

Just putting some feelers out there... I don't own one yet, and I'm in the process of buying a house, so ALL purchases are off for the next couple of months... either I'll buy one and make it then, or if someone wanted to lend me one so I could make the pattern from it, they'd get a free sheath... just a suggestion...

I can experiment with what people want... you can remove the clip obviously and then put it in a sheath, or keep the clip on and I can make the sheath to accomodate having the clip attached still...

Anyone wanna comment on the idea? Mods, I'm not trying anything dodgy here, and if I'm breaking any forum rules by posting this, please let me know... I love making sheaths and I think that a sheath for the UKPK would be a handy addition to your EDC :D

Thanks for reading.. I'll dig out the Salt 1 sheath pics I took a while back and whack these up incase anyone wants to see the type of work

Hi mmmotorcycle, thanks for your reply, but I'm looking at making these myself to sell to anyone who wants them... I'm not looking for one to buy :)

If I can determine if anyone would be interested, I'd make some...

Sorry, but my personal opinion is the UKPK is both light and durable enough to make a sheath pointless. The wire clip is unobtrusive and seems to be fairly snag-resistent, with no sharp edges to scratch things. I barely notice the knife at all when it is clipped to my pocket.

Of course, there is the additional detail that I spend my workdays with a Leatherman Wave, a Coast Tac-Lite, a cell phone, a walkie-talkie, a tape measure and several rings of keys clipped to my belt, which doesn't leave much room even though my waist is larger than it should be ;)

I have to agree with yablanowitz. I always carry my UKPK in a pocket, either back or front depending on the circumstances. It works well like that and for me just isn't big enough to warrant a sheath.

One of the nice things about spyderco clipits generally are the way they lend themselves to being carried in a pocket.

I'd still be interested to pics of your work though, as I have a couple of fixed blades I need to get sheaths for at some point

Cool, thanks for letting me know guys... having not owned one yet, I wasn't able to speak from an owners point of view...

Thanks for your input, greatly appreciated... :)
