UKPK. Finally got one, and I can honestly say that this is my favourite Spyderco ever, that it is the perfect knife for me. Why?

1) light and linerless
2) perfect ergos that lock it in hand, and no blade tang edge sticking out when closed (like the Paramilitary)
3) sleek lines, and closed back so drop in pocket is the way to go
4) FFG for laser like slicing ability, and in a great steel
5) non locking, but having excellent stiffness in the "spring" both to keep it closed and to keep it opened
6) rides beautifully clipless (no swiss cheese look)
7) grippy G10 scales that aren't black
8) made in the USA
9) simple 3 screw construction, with near perfect fit and finish
10) perfectly ambidextrous

I don't think there is anytime lacking here. I would change NOTHING! It has great walk and talk (with half-stop) and looks sexy.

Buy one everyone, but your knife addiction may be cured.

It is my second favorite Spyderco next to my first Spydie (Tim Wegner Jr.). And ever since I got my Black UKPK I have wanted to get one in every color. But a sweet thing Sal could do to it is give it a compression lock. (I know then it would not be a UKPK)

What's wrong with the lockback on the Caly? Seems good enough for its intended uses.

I have one and it does work I just want a compression lock more, just another thing for me to spend money on. But I really liked it on my para military.

I just realized that I sold you a Caly 3. Hope you're not disappointed with it.

Because I grew up with slipjoints, and all locks have some play, some finicky quirk, something not perfect. The UKPK is what it is, a slippie with stiff spring that'll cut all day long. Can't really beat that.

The UKPK is my most fav Spidie. I would love another in green. Good choice in a knife!

I'm really fond of my UKPK. I keep want another - specially in orange. But its hard to justify two when this one will probably last a life time!

imho they are pretty good for folks saddled with silly knife laws but i prefer something a bit larger that locks, YMMV though.........

Love love love the UKPK. Great knife, great design. It's my favorite Spydie. I can't wait for more slip-its to come out.
But a knife in the Caly3/UKPK config. with a compression lock would be great!

Did anyone else have to put some locktite on the pivot screw? After about 6 or 7 cycles, the screw loosens to the point that I get a good bit of blade play.

RLR---Great review! I would love to Have a UKPK but I don't Need one. Thanks.
;)

The UKPK is a good one, Im very happy with my one.

I am impatiently waiting for the urban though :)

I would love to see one in blue G10
I'm in a knife unfriendly country and blue or orange UKPK are def sheeple friendly.
And I'm not very crazy of orange :(

Redset, I have the same problem with my UKPK. The pivot will loosen to the point of there being very noticeable side to side play, but it stops at that point. Loc-tite did it for me.

I let a friend borrow this knife and recently got it back. Kind of made me realize how much I like this knife when I clipped it to my pocket. So light and unobtrusive when you don't need it, wonderfully ergonomic and excellent for it's intended job when you do.

A while ago I made a post saying I found the the knife, and this was it. Since that post I've tried out a Stretch 2, Caly 3, Caly 3 ZDP/CF, CF/BG42 tip up Military, Tip up wire clip Para (My #2), ZDP Endura, BM 710 and more. I still can't find anything that functions better for me than this knife.

My only wish is that they'd make a new version in Foliage Green with fine jimping on the index finger choil and ZDP189 blade steel. I've thought about what I'd change on this knife for a long time and those are the only two things I've thought of.

Love the slipjoint design but have to admit a compression lock Caly 3 would be awesome.
