Many different plastics were tried before Delrin came on the market in circa 1960. And cheaper plastics on the order of styrene were still used afterward on inexpensive knives. I can't see the tang stamps, but the can openers are both post 1945. I believe this is their #114 general utility knife. Exposure to sunlight and/or heat is one of the things that can cause plastics to shrink and distort. Delrin has a much higher heat resistance. Celluloid was not the only plastic used before Delrin.
