Ultem Fan Boys and Girls?

I’ve known about this for awhile.
I don’t find it attractive or appealing. Micarta, g10, wood scales are preferable for myself.

If you dig it good on you, why do you prefer or like this material?

Im intrigued by it, but when I heard someone describe the color as cigarette tar on interior walls I lost all interest.
This is where I'm at with it, and why I don't like it. My grandfather was a chainsmoker for nearly 70 years, and so we didn't visit his house much as a kid. One thing I remember clearly to this day, was this plastic soda bottle he kept on his work table in his workshop that had been there for years (kept nails, bolts, etc. in it), and the plastic was badly yellowed due to all the nicotine from all the years he'd smoked while out in that workshop. It looked exactly like Ultem does. So, it's a hard no for me. Plus, seems rather silly to have a scale material that can handle super high heat. I won't ever be using a pocket knife in those kinds of conditions anyway. 🤷

I live in Florida and have left knives in the car in the absolute dead of summer, and have never had an issue. My usual car knife is a Cold Steel Voyager, and it's withstood years of sitting there, and has never had an issue.

Just bought the last ultem Synapse XL out of the display case at REC this morning. It's a very nice knife, no problems with the handle color.

This has been such a divisive material among most groups I've talked with about it! Individually people either seem to love it or hate it.

I've been thinking about picking some up to make up a friction folder with one, just to see... I think my preference might be as either an inlay material or as the ENTIRE scale, no liners or anything in between. Not sure yet.
