"Ultimate Defense Knives" company?

At the risk of dragging this thread off-topic, I'll say that it should be pretty simple to produce a wave-like opener that doesn't violate Emerson's trademark, which has a very specific look that includes "rolling ridges" ie. large jimping. These guys didn't even bother to try to make it look all that different.

would be great but I seriously doubt how they can effectively go after this no name in another country.
No matter who the manufacturer is, he could easily go after any US dealer, if he was so inclined, as demonstrated by Spyderco v. Kevin Inc.

Somebody should DM Reate on IG and ask about it

Keep it classy, Reate!

:D Jon seems to be largely doing PR / Marketing (and warranty I think) so he might not know certain internal things. I wrote him and update you guys.

So I guess that’s a yes?

This is some Reate sub brand? Or are they just building UD’s knives? I find it kind of hard to believe if UD was an unaffiliated brand that Reate would say “here are some of our models, just slap your name on it.”

Reate is the OEM for UD Knives, Albert designed the Epoch and has a relationship with Reate, so its on the up and up.
And to be fair to Reate USA, they got back to me, a pleb, with roughly the same information today.

Well I got my response from Reate USA as well, in the Jon who runs the account and does their US warranty always replied to my questions. I assume he simple didn't know about UDK and was a bit confused (maybe assumed it was a vendor hence the "is there an issue") but he spoke to David/Reate directly after I explained the situation and he relayed the info about the Epoch and UDK.

Sorry I thought you were asking about which company made the Ultimate knives for defense. I have never heard of Ultimate Defense.

According to this page, they exhibited at Blade Show this year, and also won the Blade Magazine award for Most Innovative Imported Design.

The designs have a nice mix of simplicity and flair, but I'll never pay these prices. Reate's cost to produce knives like this is $75-100 like everyone else.
