drf1, thanks for sharing those! I'm very interested in Mr. Moran's work!

His shop is about 35 min. ride from my house!

Very nice. Think the damascus ST-23 is my favorite of those I've seen.
Is that a hex-nut on the pommel?

hi kevin,
yes, that is a Damascus nut on the pommel.
the front and rear guard are beautiful maiden hair damascus and the top of the maple handle has great wire inlay that cant be seen from this angle.
thank you,
dan

Great knives thanks for posting

The kill them all knife is in my mind the most desireable Moran out there.

I first saw it in I believe Moran's book

I have a signed copy that was given to me by Bill Bagwell who also signed it

Nope........meteorite knife. But those are killer.:D

I like both ST 23 and 24 but that damascus piece is exceptional. The ST 23 was a great design and that size looks kewl.

Funny, I'd choose that folding ST23. I LOVE that one!

Thanks, Dan!

Dan,

Those are as good as it gets.

I think that Moran's Maidenhair damascus was his best pattern.

The Kill them all is probably his most famous.

The folding ST-23 is one of the rarest.

It would be tough to pick any one over the other two. You are extremely fortunate to have all three. Yours are some of the best ST-23's that I have seen.

I have both a ST-23 and a ST-24, I prefer the ST-24 over the ST-23, but really like both knives. The ST-24 design evolved from the ST-23. In my opinion it is one of the greatest fighting knives ever made.

I'm with Stabber. While others debate the 23 vs. 24, send us yours for our objective evaluations.

Was asking Dan, who I am pretty sure owns examples of both, which he preferred, that is why he was quoted, but am very appreciative of Jim Treacy posting, as I knew he had some of each.

Best Regards,

Thanks for showing these beautiful photos Dan.

I have two questions (to anyone) , as one who is unfamiliar with the particiulars of ST-23 and ST-24, a description - ie. what are the characteristics or differences noted in each?

Secondly, a general question on style. Where did Bill Moran's inspiration mainly come from, .. Is there some Eastern, Turkish type influence there?
Thanks,
David

I like the guards and the descended pommel.

People keep telling me they don't like that style, but it's a favourite of mine.
