What are your thoughts on the subject? personally I have been using the SOG Seal Pup Elite for almost a year now. I won't say its perfect, but it has been good to me.

what about you?

I'd probably look at customs if I had to choose any. If Production, an ESEE6 is a great one to get started, as are some Falknivens, or a BK2.(ESEE5 is basically the same, better fit and finish/sheath/handle in my opinion)

I have heard allot about these EESE knives. I have never held one, but might need to look more seriously into owning one.

esee
becker
falkniven

the only three production knife brands I would buy, you cant go wrong with any of them

lol after reading these comments i just have to ask... what about non-production?

I recently bought a custom knife from Scott Richardson. I should be receiving it in the mail some time this week. I am hoping that it will be, as Moosez45 said "my 'the knife' " but you know how it is...you can never buy just one. I just know that it will have to go on hold until i can raise the funds.

...But it never hurts to look

Alot of people don't like TOPS but I think they are some of the best knives out there. I have a DART and Urban Defender that I would carry without hesitation. I have several more but the UD is just amazing....

BK-2 for production blades for me, at least so far. Love the heft, balance, handle ergos. Had an ESEE 6 for a little bit, as much as I wanted to love it, I wasn't all that into it. Flat handles weren't very comfy for extended work. I think it'd be great if they worked some contours into the handle ergos, but as it was, it didn't work for me.

The Spyderco Temperance 2 and/or NWA BF Forum knife would be my two favorites.

I also have a Ranger Knives RD6 FFG that is pretty great.

Big Mike, you have always loved those recurves, no?

It's true my friend.

Recurves work well for me, especially in the size of knife we're discussing here.

And I love grinding those full convex recurves. :D

Here's another one:

From my experiences, I would go with an ESEE 5, ESEE 6, or a Scrapyard Scrapper 6.
