Ultimate Production (or custom) Survival knife under 7''...?

No one has mentioned Bark River but the Bravo I (less than 5") and Bravo II (right at 7") are two that I can think of. Just a little pricey though.

I love my Kabar Potbelly. Best factory production blade out there for my money. Cutting edge measures 6", blade is 7" to the handle.

I'd have to go custom to beat it. As far as customs go, it would probably be something from Wohlwend.

If you make me pick one less than 7", it's probably going to be the BK-2.

The Becker BK2! 1/4" thick, 5-1/4" High Sabre Ground 1095 CroVan blade... Nice handle ergonomics, and can be had for under $60. This thing's a tank!

A custom RD-5 from Justin Gingrich, got it years ago. RD = Ready detachment series. A classic at this point I'd say. It's an awesome design, near perfection :D

Becker BK2 Campanion. Perfect for me, and its my "The Knife".

What sheath is that? Im fixin to pull the trigger on a BK2 and I like that sheath. Thanks:D

Cold Steel Recon Scout, SK-5 High Carbon, you can usually find them for $110., I've had mine for 3 yrs. and use it often without a problem. Altough I live in the south and have never used it below 30 degrees.

appreciate all of the responses. has anyone had any experience with Al Mar's SERE Operator Survival knife?

Big Mike,
What advantages do you find the re-curve blade gives you? I seem to remember hearing that it has a longer cutting edge or something.

It does offer a longer cutting edge then a straight edged blade of the same size,

...but I think it's the changing angle of attack as you pull the knife through the substrate that makes it so effecient.

I'd have to say my Koster Bushcraft in 3v would be my go to knife. However I do have a custom of my own design on order.

No first hand experience, but it's a nice looking package. IMO, it's more a compact fighting/combat type blade than a "survival" blade. Of course, any knife can be used for survival. If faced in a situation where you'd have to use the knife as weapon as well, it would be a better choice than a camp style knife.
