Ultimate Survival Cord

Thanks for the info Jeff.

A must-have for any survival kit.

Seems to be like Paracord v.2?

Would interesting to get some feedback of testing one against the other  New to the market right after SHOT?

I'm not sure how long it's been out but so far I'm pretty impressed with it. It doesn't seem to abrade as fast as 550 cord (been testing that outside some).

Think it will cut and resist breakage as well as kevlar cord? If so, I'd consider adding some strands into my pants here and there.

It seems to cut through plastic pretty quick although not as fast as Kevlar. You can definitely cut through it easier than you can Kevlar

I’d like to test some of this stuff out. Seems to be 1/3” the diameter of paracord so you could carry 3x as much in the same space.

I thought it looked like overpriced bank line until I saw the 450# test part. :D

not much. just what I have already stated above

Is there any difference in weight in comparable lengths of cord? I can't seem to find from my desk what 50ft of 550 weights to compare to the 80z stated on the link.

Taken from firesteel.com:

# Length: 50 feet (15.24 meters)
# Weight: approx 3 ounces (85 grams)

So the new cord seems to be a kicker looking at weight vs. strength

wait, you cut plastic with cord? dude i didnt know you could even do that

Where you been out watching Spongebob? How else are you supposed to saw out of your zip cuffs? :D

I don't think this is intended as a replacement for paracord for all jobs. Fishing bank line will do most jobs you use paracord for and weathers better. But when you need abrasion resistant cordage that is thin and strong, here you go.

I can buy just about any cheap cord to do most all the chores I need to do. This cord though is small enough in diameter and strong enough to serve purposes that regular 550 cord won't. I think you could use this stuff as a saw with a little grit rubbed into it.

Jeff, I keep a small bundle of masonry string line in my pack for that reason. When I was younger and doing masonry work we used to use that stuff all the time to cut. Plastic, wood, etcetera. It costs pennies and is tough as nails.

It looks like some great stuff! Might just have to pick some up and try it out!:D
