Ultimate Survival Cord

@adaman- i dont know why i never really considered this, though i guessing it has to be a really rough texture to cut well. im useing 550 cord a lot, and that doesnt cut nuthin in my experience with it. maybe if i rubbed some grit in it?

It looks interesting. Smaller then para, but still that strong? Sounds like a good combo to me

Not sure if anyone here has used this, but I got some samples of it at SHOT and I'm really impressed. This stuff is tough and almost impossible to break: http://www.shomer-tec.com/product/ultimate-survival-cord-1494.cfm We will be adding this to one of our commercial kits going on the dealer network soon. Good stuff.

Equally as interesting on that website, the "TV attacker" and " HAUNTED HARASSMENT ". Those could provide hours of entertainment.

Thanks for the info Jeff. As someone who makes paracord gear this is something very interesting to look into.

Thanks again.

I'll be interested to hear how it holds up to abuse. *thread subscribed* keep us updated.

at $.30/foot it is a bit spendy. So far, I have been getting by with milsurp paracord at $.03/foot

That will definitely come in handy. Just found a replacement for my 550 and now I can carry more. Thanks Jeff.

A little while back someone had asked where the kevlar cord for your kits came from and you posted a link to shomertec. I saw this cord then, planned on getting some of this and the kevlar cord for the kit I'm putting together. Looks like good stuff.

You can probably buy a whole spool of 1000 to 2000 feet and sell some to all of your friends. You can get synthetic winch cable, Im sure it is just a smaller version. It is a lot less weight, less stretch, less dangerous if it fails, easier to use......blah blah blah. A few of my friends went in on a spool and cut to length what they wanted for their trucks. It was cheaper than ordering in 100-200ft lengths. It is a good idea to use in a survival tin. Why has nobody thought of this before?

the cord looks like it would do any job 550 would, but for me the best part of it would have to be the rest of the things on that site, tho im real sure some people in the future wont be as happy about me finding that site as i am :D

Thanks for the link Jeff

Unless I missed it, nobody has said how well it takes knots? Masonry cord, for example, is pretty strong, but some knots tied with it are (k)not  very stable. The same applies to 550. Anybody know?

Doc

Nope, but it will be fun to find out.

Hope it takes my caving knots.

Seems expensive , but looks like it would be great for shorter stuff...like knife lanyards and sheath rigs ;)

Very interesting...

I know it's different, as it isn't "cord" but "line", but I've also heard that people carry Spectra line as part of their survival kits. I bought a small spool of this a little while back, and it's pretty strong stuff! Any thoughts?

I know that's no comparison to Paracord or this new cord, but meant to be a compliment, or a stuff it in a tin/capsule as a small package. (it's very strong braided fishing line)

I don't know that much about this new cord I posted up. Just got a small sample at SHOT and have been using it some. So far I like it
