Hey Folks - A while back I was inspired by the ultimate survival knife thread to put together the fixed blade that I would want with me in the wild. I thought I'd post some pics of what I made.

Here is what I came up with:

The pattern is a Schrade Sharpfinger, I carried one as a boy and I think it's seen just about as much field use as any other fixed blade pattern out there.

The knife is 1/8" 1084 7.5" OAL and 3.5" tip to plunge. It was ground on a 14" wheel and is cold blued with stabilized giraffe bone scales, red liners and fileworked brass screw construction. The leather sheath was done collaboratively by myself and Travis Daniel, which you should read as he did all of the hard stuff and made it look good.

Hey man I like it! The handle material looks great and the screws add a nice contrast.
I am also fond of that pattern.

hey i remember that thread! it was a good one too.

very cool knife. simple yet elegant!

good work

Jake

Thanks for the compliments folks, I'm happy with how this one came out. It has always been one of my favorite knife patterns.

I agree. The geometry is really very good for pure slicing and cutting. Plus it just plain looks good. It's not what I would choose for a "survival" knife, but don't worry, I don't intend to re-open that can of worms. :)

Your example is cleanly-executed and looks really nice.

That is sweeeet bro! I am working on one based on the sharp finger too. Hope it turns out that nice.
