This is a knife similar to one I carried on a Kayak trip last fall. 80 miles of paddling with many portages and with my being close to geezerdom, weight and bulk were a huge consideration. This knife is great for the backpacker or hunter that wants to pack into the back country. It is very light, razor sharp and will stand up to camp chores or field dressing and butchering. (Although much too light for chopping)

The knife is convex ground from 1/16 inch ATS34 heat treated to Rc 58-60 with a cryogenic quench. The knife is well balanced and is large enough for a comfortable fit in the hand: 8 inches overall with a 3 7/8 inch blade. Handle material is stabilized curly maple. Highly polished and includes a hand sewn leather scabbard.

$130 SOLDplus $6 shipping to the lower 48. Paypal, money order or checks accepted.

The ten spot is one that I have rat holed in my shop waiting for a sale on broad heads. You can't have it!

The block would be cocobolo; my favorite wood!

Only been retired for two weeks and absolutely love it! Off on another kyak trip in May and maybe a drive to Alaska in the fall.

hope you have a bank vault of cash for gasoline on the drive to Alaska!

Yeah, know what you mean, that's why it is still a maybe. Word on the news says there are gas shortages out there too. How do we start a knife shortage?

That's some great work!! I made 3 knives out of that thickness ATS-34 for a friend and his family, and swore I'd never make another. Must have asbestos thumbs........great polish BTW.

P.S. I looked all over the internet for a stabilized maple in that colour months ago, and couldn't find any, anywhere. Did you stabilize it, or can you share your source? Appreciate it if you can.....Joel

I've done really well taking care of my credit card debt. Now that I don't have any balances to worry about, I find it really hard to restrain myself.

Joel: I stabilize my own wood and stain with leather dye. I rough out the handle, dye the wood and than stabilize. If there are any blemishes in the wood from the finishing process, I just touch up with the leather dye again. I am considering making a canister for my stabilizing process that is big enough to put the whole knife in the vacuume bath after the handles are installed and almost finished. That way I won't have to do the touch up step. Just a thought.

BTTT..
Gerry.
I sent the wood for our project today.. VIA " Wifey"
If ona these goofs dont buy it, I'll snag it in the morning

Just wanted to say, that's a beauty. Very nice work!
Thanks TK: I just noticed that I listed the blade as "concave ground" when it is really convex. I have made the change above.

The Kayak is loaded on my truck and I am headed for the Great White North on Monday. This knife is going along with me if it doesn't sell by then. thanks for the comments guys: see you at the blade show.

Ok Gerry,I will take it so you dont have to haul it up north.
I guess it will go with the drop point hunter you sent me a couple weeks ago.
I will mail a money order tuesday.
My email is down and i am leaving for a day or two.
I will send you an email sunday.
I should have bought both of them the first time around.
