Ultralight Hiking Kit

I dig the quilt ruben, I was looking at one made by golite.. where did you get the materials for it and what type are they. we have a sewing machine so it shouldn't be to hard to sew something up for summer. I leave for mammoth for 9 days real soon. hopefully I can get something together.
thanks for the great thread.

Boom,

Thru-Hiker.com is where I got materials. You will need a shell type of ripstop and a liner material. It gets kind of technical and real boring from here but if you email me I could try to help you. Climashield XP in the 2.5 oz weight for a 40 degree rating is what I use for the filling. It should take around 3-5 hours for one if you have it all planned out.

Id like to make me one(or have one made) with snaps instead of zippers. I hate zippers.

Nice quilts buddy...

Bear,

Great post. The stuff you carry on your person is well thought out and would solve a great many problems. I have a neck knife kit similar to your neck kit that I use on day hikes all the time.

I love the quilts. I often just use a poncho liner which is pretty much the same thing on a lower level. I wish I could sew. Mac

Nice kit, Bear. I recently broke down and bout a Nunatak quilt. I blame you for planting the seed a couple of years ago! Combined with the ID SilPoncho, MLD UL Bivy and the Thermarest Neoair, I've got a really comfortable shelter/sleep system that weighs almost nothing.
