Ultrasonic cleaner for G10?

Is this a real live complaint or just a perceived one?

I have knives out there being used on hunts skinning everything from boars to moose with G10 handles sanded to 400 grit and not a one has complained about it being "slippery".

When you are up to your elbows in body fluid everything is slippery that is where handle design comes into play and yours seems just fine

I tried some g10 and homebrew mycarta. I only had cartridge cleaner around so I used that, but I think dawn would have been ok.
The g10 was still faded until I sprayed it with some wd-40.
It did however clean the mycarta really well.

The perception of G10 being slippery when finished to higher grits is something I came to myself, rather than being customer feedback. Early on I finished some handles to higher grits and didn't like how they felt when wet so I took them down to lower grit... The handles still look great when finished to lower grits so I started doing that on everything and haven't had any problems!

Perhaps it's not necessary, but I'm happy with how it's working!

Thanks for trying that mate! My ultrasonic cleaner should be arriving today so I will try it as well... Doesn't sound like it's going to work for the G10, oh well... I'm sure I will find other uses for it!

I didn't see the benefit for me since I've been doing one at a time, but your volume is much higher than mine.

That actually looks pretty good! Normally it would look chalkier than that after grinding! Awesome, I'm excited to try it out now!

Aaron, that was after a spray of wd-40, but I agree, still looks pretty good.
I can't figure out how to edit my pictures...they're always huge.:(

Just to follow up and close off this thread:

I got my ultrasonic cleaner yesterday, put some G10 in it right away! As Greenjebadiah found, the cleaner does a good job cleaning the G10, but does not remove the chalky look... I thought the chalkiness might be due to dust in the pores of the material, but I now think it's more likely to be due to minute crazing around the points where individual fibres have been torn in the G10. So it seems that lightly oiling it, then washing the oil off again is still the best way to bring back the color.

I have used Ballistol after doing G-10 work, seems to work well. Now I use Rusty's Rags gun/knife care oil, less oder and work really well.

Nice! I've been using 'food grade' Mineral Oil (sold at pharmacies as a laxative), but I'm sure there are other things out there that must work better!
