I will have one of these in my pack when I am in Alaska this summer. I intend to use it to steak out some salmon and halibut (I hope), use it as a camp kitchen knife and maybe cut some small firewood. I designed this to fit in my Kayak for multiple use on a trip but I have found it works well as an all around camp knife.

1/4 inch 1095
Mustard treatment on the mill finish flats
Mirror finish on the grind
Tapered tang
Stabilized curly maple handle
Overall length: 8 inches
Cutting edge: 3 5/8 inches
Handle:3 5/8 inches
Riveted leather sheath with a belt loop

$180 ------SOLD-------- delivered to the US or Canada. My PP account is gldrewknives@yahoo.com Money orders or a check with time to clear also accepted.

I had my mini ax on my table at Blade. Could have sold it 50 or more times, but I wouldn't let it go. If you have a chance to get one, don't pass it up!

I saw this axe on the Great Lake Waterjet table and immediately recognized it as Gerry's work. What a wonderful axe. I love mine. Nice work!

Just one question. How will it handle moisture. I love the design but on the coast here I have serious rust problems.
Other than constant attention is there a cure?

You would have to treat them like you do your shotgun or rifle. A good wipe down and a little oil after use. My 1095 knives come with a guaranty: they are going to stain and they will rust if neglected. I chose 1095 for this tool because of its toughness, spring properties and ease of sharpening in the field. I am sure that all of us have owned a pocket knife that turned color the first time we cut a tomato but that never took away from its function.

And even most stainless will rust in salt water.

(I hope I didn't sound terse with this reply, I just wanted you to know the nature of 1095)

No problem. I only ask for an answer and I got one. My guns and rifles are driving me crazy with rust. My 1095 machete is too. I have to oil them constantly. But, if that is what I need to do I'll do it.
Thanks for the answer, I hope someday I can get one of your axes.
