I made one of these compact axes to fit in my kayak thinking it would cut small firewood, clean briars away from camp and work as a camp kitchen knife if used like an ulu. There was some demand when I posted the first one a few weeks ago so here are two more.

1/4 inch 1095
Convex grind
The flats have the mill finish and the grind is mirror finished
The tang is tapered on both axes
Just so everyone knows, these axes were water jet cut by David at Great Lakes Waterjet (a great product and a great guy to do busines with). If you are a purist and want something that is completely done in my shop, this is not the tool for you.
Length from the butt to the top or the blade:8 inches
Cutting edge: 3 1/2 inches
Green micarta and Stabilized curly maple
Leather cover (no belt loop but I could add one easily)

$180 ------BOTH ARE SOLD--------delivered to the US or Canada. Paypal or money orders accepted. My PP acount is gldrewknives@yahoo.com

Those are awesome, I've been looking for something like that for a while. Wish I could afford it. I hope you make more in the future.

OK fine, you win. Could I have the green one. Thanks

The green micarta axe is yours Orrey45. Thank you.

And thanks to everyone who has expressed an iterest in this tool. I don't want to turn into a manufacturer but there will be more as I putter in my shop. Keep an eye on Blade Fourums, other than an occasional show this is where I will be selling them.

I really like this as an all-around camping chopper/ax/tool. Looks pretty tough and very useful. I'd love to own one but have a few too many irons in the fire at the moment. I'll be watching for more on down the road.

I really like the c. maple one! Where do you get your c. maple ? Larry
I tried to answer your e-mail without success. I found a maple board in a lumber yard that was tight curl the whole 8 inch by 10 feet. I cut it into handle size blocks and sent it off to WSSI to be stabilized. I got over 60 handles from that board. Always on the lookout for more.

Thanks for responding, Gerry. I thought you mentioned in another thread that you "found" your own. Very nice work. Larry

Just got it in the mail. Looks even better in person, great feel to it and I cant wait to try it out. Going grocery shopping now to get something to chop. Hope I get some time this weekend to really try it out.

I love the design Gerry...when I can free up some extra "mad money" I'm definitely going to have to bug you to make me one of these! I wonder how they'd look with some sort of darker wood handle or maybe even go "primitive" and use moose or deer antler?
