Umbilical Knife, now never to be used

Give the knife to the kid when he's all grown up. I'd be very surprised if they let any foreign knife/cutting implement into a hospital knowingly. Not just for the risk of infection, but in this day and age, mostly for the safety of the doctor and staff. Heck, they wouldn't let you take that on an airplane...

Jokes on them there. My EDC is bigger than this, and does not leave my side unless I am showering or HAVE to go to the county court house.

I had a sharp knife on my waist to cut the cord if they would let me with my second.

But the wife had an emergency C section. I was in the room, but there was a big medical sheet between us and the operation. The cord had already been cut, because you could not go around to the other side.

I was pretty stressed. I know that C sections are very common, but with the baby's heart rate dropping, and the fact that it is still cutting your way through the abdomen, I did not even really think about the knife again till all was well.

My baby is here!! wife was not due untill jan 30 but bp was so high doc decided to pull the plug early. I got to cut the cord but not with my knife. He told me it would
Have been hard to doubt he was wrong. I could have sliced through that easily.I can not post pics because I am in hospital using I-phone. Will do it later.
