Umfaan Circles

Thanks marblegoby!! it is an amazing little boy!! (Umfaan is Zulu for boy) the blade is just 2.25 inches long the frame is 3.125 inches long and it only weighs 1.4 oz.

Beautiful knife! Congrats! Whats the blade length and weight?

Great little knife. Congrats on a nice score. I have seen the umfaan for sale many times over the years, but always passed on it. Its so collectible that is more for safe queen people, than someone like me who would use it heavily. I have Many other CRK's for that......lol. Again great score and in amazing condition. I am not surprised at all that its CRK quality through and through, despite its size.

Thanks nyefmaker!! Yes it was and still is a "Safe Queen" or maybe just an investment.. lol lol .. They are awesome little knives but I don't know what you would use it for if it was an EDC?? Slicing grapes.. maybe..

I just reread my post, did not mean any dig at "safe queen people". Everyone collects CRK for different reasons, some like me use most of their collection and admire their wear and tear, while others marvel at their mint collection. There are enough CRK's to USE, while some, like the Umfaan and several others like the special damascus and mammoth and such are are safe queens to be admired, and Yes, a Nice Investment as well.

Again, Nice Addition to your collection.

Thanks again nyefmaker!! coming from someone as experienced as yourself it means a lot!! And believe me I did not take it as a dig and I doubt anyone else did either. We are all friends here!! That's what makes this forum the great place that it is. I have a couple of CRK's that I EDC, but hey most of my modest collection consists of "Safe Queens" and I love um!!

Agree with you and nyefmaker. Definitely a safe queen. When it comes to hard cutting chores, I'll just use a Stanley box cutter with dirt cheap replaceable razor sharp blades. I wouldn't want to risk marking such a beautiful and may I add highly sought after, discontinued knife. I won't even cut an envelope with it.

Thats funny marblegoboy!! I use the old fashioned box cutters that slide open (old grocery jerk) for opening box's ect.. And of course my trusty stainless steel letter opener for enevlope's lol lol!! but my trusty Mnandi is in my pocket, at the ready just in case!! :)

I have 2 drawers for CRK,,,, one for user rotation, and one for the ones I will take out and admire…. I figure it's all good! Bart

Only the shadow knows!! :) No, seriously I would think it probably came down to simple economics.. but I'm sure that there are others here on BF that might be able to shed more light on the subject.

Anyone knows why Chris stop offering the umfaan?

I would love to have a plain Jane Umfaan, but like others have stated--not sure what I would use it for. Mr. Papa--I like the idea of a designated "grape slicer!' That put a smile on my face.

I for one would have loved to get an Umfaan, but at the rate they go for today, it will be awhile yet before I can afford it. That was a superb acquisition. I like the smaller folders.

I just thought I would post some pictures of one of my latest finds. This is a beautiful BNIB Umfaan that I recently acquired. I love these little knives.. It is just amazing to me how all of the quality and attention to detail of Chris Reeve knives can be packed into such a little package!! I wish they still made them.

What a great find, Dave! The Circles design is my favorite Umfaan design as well.

Great find, Dave. It would be hard for most of us to use that ' little treasure' you just found.:)
