Umnum flipper interest?

Ok, I have the feeling I'm going to get killed for this, but I'd love to see an Umnum flipper. With the polyurethane o-rings to absorb some shock, I would think it would really fit the knife. So Mr. Reeve, how about it?

I think this is a fantabulous idea. only thing that'd make it better. probably won't happen, but I'd snap one up if it did.

I'll take mine with NO flipper please. In my case, they limit the grips I can use the knife in. Such as a choked up reverse draw cut, and when upside down my thumb can not get close to the cutting edge.

I do flick most all my double studed knives with my middle finger on the back side of the knife. Just pull it free from the dedent, then flick you wrist. Its just as fast as a flipper, and your hands are already in position for use. Unlike a flipper, were you have to flip the flipper, then move the knife around to use it after you open it. Plus most take away from the clean lines the knife would of had other wise. IMHO

No thanks, I'll pass on the flipper fad.

No, not for me. But unless they make it in a small version, I'll never own one anyways;)

Put me down for one.
The Flipper will be made at the same time the Reeve CG folder is made! ;)

[thread resurrection]:D

I for one would LOVE any(Seb/Zaan/Mnandi) CRK flipper with NO thumbstuds.I think a tastefully done flipper(think Begg & Ralph)would be a great addition to the CRK lineup.

opinions?

I was thinking of starting a CRK flipper thread, but a search turned up this one,so I figured I'd reply to it.Instead of starting a new one.

Not many flipper fans here I see....oh well

IMO , a flipper requires that after the knife is flipped that it must be re-positioned in the hand for the proper grip as opposed to a thumb stud opener that doesn't require as much manipulation.

I would like to hear the thoughts of others. :)

I wouldn't hold my breath on CRK making one.

I can see it now:

The Umnumzaan flipper contains a ceramic ball that engages the new flipper stop pin allowing for a much stronger lockup. The exposed edge of the flipper is grooved in order to provide better grip for hard tasks. It also allow for control of a partially open Umnumzaan similar to a straight edge razor, allowing for a proper shave in the harshest conditions.

I use my pointer finger to flip flippers,so there's no repositioning(not really)for me.I like non-studded flippers for a change.Thumbstuds/discs & opening holes take away from the overall flow of the knife a lot of times IMHO.I know many will disagree with this & I'm not trying to knock thumbstuds/holes.I just think it would be a nice change to have a flipper version of a Seb or Zaan.I also like the gaurd the flipper provides.
Rick Hinderer makes both types, why not Chris Reeve?Just like they made a tanto umnumzaan,I think I'd be pretty cool if there was a flipper version of one of Chris' knives. Not asking for a whole new knife, just a slightly altered blade.

I have been dreaming about an Umnum flipper for a few weeks now and meaning to make a post about it also.

I would be down for one! But the whole concept kind of goes against Chris's anti-flick mindset so I don't get my hopes up :(

I did the flipper thang, man did i do it...still have many...RJ Martin, Hinderer, Steve ryan, Carrey, Burke, chew, just to name a few...got tired of them.

Maybe that's my problem.I haven't really done it yet.I'm just starting.:)

Kershaw got me into flippers(JYDII,RAM,Groove).I'm itchin' to get a custom like the ones you named.
