Umnumzaan Lock-Squeeze question

Yep, if that was the problem then the extra ball would definitely fix that :). It would be a cool if the productions had those too..

That's what I meant, I don't see it as a problem but if it were, it's nice to know Chris was thinking ahead. :)

Thanks for that picture Josh K.

I think it is one key issue with framelocks, the lock can be moved (on a CRK more like forced) like you described. If I can remember Rick Hinderers lock bar stabiliser cap was designed to prevent that type of movement as well.

I would still love to see a CRK with a Hinderer lock bar stabiliser, I dont really think it is necessary on a CRK, but I think it is a great invention for framelocks nun the less. The Rotoblock system as well but to get these to go with the design of the Umnum or Sebenza would be a challenge I think.

I think the Umnumzaan is a great lessen in simplicity. Keeping it simpler would be better, and that is what they did. Being able to force the lockbar is not an issue.

Actually, and this might sound a little blasphemous, I would love to see a Sebenza with the Umnumzaan's lock. :)

Who knows what the future holds for the Sebenza or Umnumzaan except for Chris and co. I am sure he is carrying some type of prototype we will never see until he is happy that it is an improvement of the Umnumzaan or Sebenza.

Personally I think the new type of lock limit a lot of 'sticky locks' that can happen with the normal lock face because of damage to the heated lock face, you know some people wrist flicking the crap out of their folders, but I am no expert on these things so that is why I leave the decisions to the maker and trust in their product.

personally my Sebenza's lock disengagement is perfect. It's a vault lock up, perfectly smooth and no stickiness. however, i have handled a few sebenzas that have sticky lock faces and it is one of my biggest pet peeves. I admit i'm being picky, and i know in someways a sticky lock might just mean there's more material to wear away. So i know it's not all bad, but i hate it.

with that said, i agree that the umnum seems much more resistant to a sticky lock face.
