Edge Pro or something else with that fine edge? Looks like a demon cutter!

I just ordered a Sebenza from CRK...looks like i'm going to have to wait a little while to order the Umnum.

In other words, "give the wife some time to get over the Sebenza purchase::D

I have a question for any of you guys that are really familiar with CRK. How much of these knives are considered "production"?? How much is "handmade"?

Hope i'm not hijacking the thread:o

It may be highjacking, but I think we're all friends here. CRK is a production operation in every real sense; however they still have quite a bit of handwork involved in the process. All of the pieces are hand checked continually and "walked" through the production lines. The final sharpening along with the final fit & finish is always done by hand, with minor adjustments made with hand tools. Any Unique Graphic decorating and coloring is also done by hand. IIRC, all of the inlays are also carved and set by hand.

As I've read up on the history of CRK's, there has been a continual movement to performing more tasks with machines. For example, I believe that up until sometime in the middle of the last decade, the blades were all hand-ground. I'm pretty sure that the earliest Sebenza's (and probably all the knives as well) had more hand work in general than later models. As CRK tries to manage raising costs and improve efficiency, some of this handwork gives way to machine assisted operations. It saves us from constant price increases while providing the same knives - just made a little differently.

Back on topic - that Star-Tac with the mirror edge is just scary cool. Well done!

I just love that startac Zaan. Maybe one day ill have the cash to pick one up. Till that day, the good ol seb will have to do. Poor me :(

I bought a new Seb 21 in december last year, I couldn't decide if I liked it or the Umnum better. If I had a choice, I would def opt for the "star-zaan" over the normal one.

The Umnumzaan definitely will be my next knife purchase, now that I had a 4-in-a-row spyderco run

I have had 2 large sebenzas and 2 small but sold those and now have a Umnum, pretty sure this one is staying.
