Umnumzaan opening

I have and I've got lucky a few times but that is going take some more practice. I've pinched opened it from the left side as well which is still difficult.

I'm 3 weeks into my first CRK (a Zaan which I norvox modded) and completely understand the CRK obsession. Perfection is the only word I can use to describe the Zaan. The best action I've felt to date.

It took me awhile to get the hang of it. I could get it for several times in a row and then couldn't do it at all.

It's so easy to open The Boss. Just click and that's it ;)
I've never had problems with that

Look at me ;)

Can't see the video Norvox, It states "This video is private"

Works! Mine is not that worked in quite yet even though I have been opening and closing it like mad. I might need to tweak the pivot again to find that sweet spot.

-Steve
Yes, You can try to regulate the pivot screw a little but remember to use your thumb straight and up. It must work!

Sounds like some pretty hard impact on an otherwise quiet knife. Any noticeable damage/indentations/wear marks where the thumb studs impact the handle slabs from the the thumb flicking?

I'm not really a "thumb flicker" anyways and my Zaan even a little tight feels great IMHO.

There's no marks on the handle slabs. Thumb flicking makes some noise but doesn't makes any damages. Everything is perfect!

That's good to hear.

I'm going to be using your mod here in the near future but just put on a new lanyard for the time being.
I'm kind of liking it so will probably add one to the new stand off like on the 25.

That's a good idea if you like lanyards :)

I wish I never saw this thread. It's making me miss my old 'Zaan like crazy. My bank account is about to get a little lighter I think.

When I got my Zaan, I carried it a couple times, opened and closed it a bit, and didn't like it at all, especially how awkward it was for me to open. It just didn't feel right to me.

I sent it back to the online retailer to exchange it for a plain large 21. After I sent it back I started having second thoughts about it. A couple weeks later, I received a delivery from them. I opened it to find my Umnumzaan had come back to me. It was ineligible for exchange as they could tell I had carried it. I was disappointed, but decided to like it as it was now mine for sure.

It became my work EDC knife. The more I used it, the more I liked it. It is now one of my favorite knives of all time. It never leaves my side for work EDC. (Large UG Sebenza 21 for off-work EDC)

The Umnumzaan definitely requires some break-in. I found the motion to be extremely intuitive and fluid, however the detent is strong. The more I open it, the faster and smoother the Zaan gets. I still can't "thumb-flick", but I am sure in time that too will be possible.
