So many questions about the availability of an Umnumzaan pivot tool.
This surprises me.
I’ve had one for about 20 years now.
Here’s an example:

Easy to find at any hardware store. (Besides Sears)
Many have interchangeable tips in different sizes, and straight or 90 degree bends.
Usable for other projects besides Umnumzaan pivot takedown.

No need for two sets of pliers, I just squeeze the other side of the pivot with my thumb to keep it from moving while adjusting the opposite side with the snap ring pliers.

Problem solved.

One slip while torquing = one boogered-up pivot screw!

I used to use a similar tool/philosophy to remove screw-off watch case backs to change batteries and o-rings. Didn't work out so well for me.

If you're gonna brave it, try to protect every surface in harm's way in regard to scratching that you possibly can. Just my .02.

Professor.

It's really easy to make a pivot tool. I did one for the pivot on my ZT0500 MUDD (same style pivot).

All you need is some properly sized rod stock, a piece of something else and a drill press. Measure the distance between holes and drill. Then just glue the rod stock in place. It's not fancy, but it works well, and it's basically free (I just used some old drill bits and a scrap of ironwood).
