So I was using my Umnum off and on all yesterday and when I went to flick it open the last time, I noticed that the thumb stud was loose. I tried to tighten it, thinking it would screw in. That didn't work though.
You'll need to put a flat on one side via filing/sanding/grinding/milling and then drill through the center with a large enough bit to separate them. At some point I think they switched to a single solid stud so you may have to drill just slightly under the diameter of the stud itself before you get it to move so you'll want to make sure you're pretty dead nuts centered. Since they also act as the stop pins, whatever you replace them with will need to be the exact same diameter...your lock up is probably going to change. Justin David on Facebook makes replacements that are probably about as good as you're going to find.
