I can't find any information on removing the thumb studs on a Zaan. Can anyone shed some light on this?

The key words to me, are press fitted and also are stop pins

Because the stock studs are no beauno to me and I like to mod my knives. I don’t care about the warranty.

You'll need to put a flat on one side via filing/sanding/grinding/milling and then drill through the center with a large enough bit to separate them. At some point I think they switched to a single solid stud so you may have to drill just slightly under the diameter of the stud itself before you get it to move so you'll want to make sure you're pretty dead nuts centered. Since they also act as the stop pins, whatever you replace them with will need to be the exact same diameter...your lock up is probably going to change. Justin David on Facebook makes replacements that are probably about as good as you're going to find.
