(Un)Official Customized Boker Kwaiken Thread

Man that was a great detailed breakdown.

Glad you liked it. It appears other people have looked at the thread, but not many comments. I guess the fact that these knives are sold out everywhere and have been for months probably means it's a popular knife.

It's popular for me anyhow. I have a Boker Kwaiken pimped out by Dietz and I had mu Boker Plus Titanium pimped out last night by Esteban with tisurvival. I bought the one that Jim Skelton owned, the all Timascus one,(have you seen this one? on his youtube?) and I just aquired 2 Custom Lucas Burnley Kwaiken's dressed. So yea, I'm a fan. two of them have been so far have been fetured on my youtube channel and when I get the others, I will post them also on my youtube channel. I have the timascus one now but haven't put that one on youtube as of yet.

Just did a flipper mod to my Orange Blade HQ Kwaiken. So much better now! the thumb stud wasn't cutting it for one handed deployment.

Silly question, but do you know what size the IKBS ball bearings are? I'm trying to find some replacements and can't for the life of me find them.

Here is a customized pair of Titanium Boker Kwaikens that I finally completed ...

Blades--Splatter resist applied, acid etched, stonewashed
Scales--Stonewashed, blue anodized titanium
Backspacer--Stonewashed, blue anodized titanium

Made for my brother:

Great job on the kwaiken and now you gat an awesom knife. I was wondering what did you mean by you darkened the ti scales with oxy clean? Can you explain how its done? Thank you.

Really like the blue anodizing you did. The matching blade and clip go together sweetly too.

Has anyone skeletonized the liners? I love this knife but it's a tad bit heavy and I was thinking I could lighten it up a little.

Sorry for the late reply.

Re: OxiClean, you are able to darken ti using the powdered version and warm water. Make sure the scales are removed, cleaned with rubbing alcohol or acetone, and placed in a bath with a heavy concentration of the powder. It darkens considerably after a while and stays that way. More info if you Google it--I found how-tos on some watch forums.

Re: skeletonizing, I considered it, but the majority of the weight is in those ti scales. A lot of metal in this knife.

I got rid of all of my Kwaikens except for the one higher in this thread with the darkened, stonewashed ti scales.

Can't wait for the carbon fiber to come back in stock. I also thought about skeletonizing the liners on my micarta version, but messing with the ikbs was not fun. I have skeletonized a few knives in the past such as the Kershaw CQC6K, Boker Epicenter, and CRK Umnum, and the weight difference was not much, maybe half an ounce at the most. One day, when I'm feeling up to it, I'll try it.

Has anyone found a deep pocket clip? Also has anyone in the US ordered from cuscadi for scales or backspacers?
