As most know I am a student of Aikido and a Buddhist and I make this post with great regret and feelings of failure but there comes a time in a man's life when he must step forward regardless of the consequences.

There is a creature who has stolen our pictures, plagiarized our information, knocked off our models and lied and slandered me and HI on a continuing basis and I am now forced to make my stand. Truth will be known and people both here and in Nepal will be hurt but this is the price we all must pay for ignorance, stupidity, arrogance and greed.

My only regret is that I am not 40 years younger so that I might meet this creature face to face and pound him into a spot of oil on the concrete and avoid all this unpleasantness but such is life.

Stay tuned or turn off. It will not be nice.

I'm tuned, and I think I know who this creature is. Why is it that so many don't comprehend that you can be a businessman AND a gentleman?!

Uncle,
This is truly a sad post. We have seen this subject rear its ugly head from time to time in the forums. I have directly been hit by this person as well, for comments that I made about the superiority of HI blades and the BirGorkha direct-line control that you have. It is a sad day when one cannot just try to make it on his own merit, without causing problems for others in the community. With sadness in my heart for the sad state that this has evolved to, I step forward to hold the HI Banner high. HI has been around for a long time, and has established itself as a step above in quality, integrity and customer service. It is truly sad when such tactics are used to try to get a foot-hold in the market.
Enough rambling, may wisdom and providence guide you Uncle.

Sincerely,

Rob

You can count on me, Uncle Bill. I've had dealings with this individual in the past and know, firsthand, from bitter experience that you speak only the truth. This "creature" is obsessed with one thing and one thing only: making money, ethics be damned!

I'd better stop now before I get too wound up -- this is a subject about which I have very strong feelings!

Being relatively "out of the loop" of inside dealings here, I am not sure what you guys are refering to. I will say that Bill has never been anything but a solid human being in any of my interactions with him. I will not do business for khukuris with anyone else. Truth, honor and integrity still count for something and will triumph in the end, I hope to be standing with the triumphant.

Bill, Rob is right -- this is a sad post. It saddens me, not because the conflict is wrong -- IMO, it is long overdue -- but rather because I know how much you wished to avoid it. I have been witness to this ongoing situation since the very beginning and you have been FAR more tolerant than I would have ever been.

There is a failure here, Bill, but it is not yours. The failure is clearly one of moral fiber. Anyone can make mistakes. The true measure of character is how those mistakes are rectified AND how the individual behaves going forward. We saw remorseful & reluctant lip service being given when the thief was caught stealing pictures. If there had been real contrition, the subsequent pattern of behavior -- plagiarism, knockoffs, slander, and lies -- would not have taken place.

We corresponded privately in the past regarding some of the half-truths & misinformation that were being disseminated. At that time, you told me you would keep quiet unless the situation became intolerable. I am sorry to learn that things must have now reached that point. I don't know if a single incident precipitated your post or if is a result of cumulative actions. Regardless, you have my full support.

You once told me, "I hate making fools out of anybody." That isn't possible, Bill. Fools do it to themselves.

I know that you wouldn't make such a post unless you really believed in it. I'm with you, Uncle.

I do not know who is upsetting Uncle Bill's life, all I can say is that Bill Martino is a real gentleman and I'm honored to be one of his customers. I cannot think of anybody doing business on the net (or on the street) the way Uncle Bill does. This forum is one of the last places where someone's word means something.

What goes around...comes around.

I think Brian best expressed how we all feel, at least those of us who know the whole story. And as he said, Uncle Bill, I think this is long overdue -- you have been far more tolerant than most people would have been.

I seem to recall a promise to make an apology to you for his actions. I don't recall him following through on it.

Uh, well, I fight pretty good for my size..
Present, and confused..

I am a little confused too. Uncle Bill is one of the nicest and most honest people I know, he most definatly has my support- I'm here too.

I've been on this forum for quite a while. I don't pretend to know the full, or even part of "the story." I do know Bill Martino is a gentleman and a person of integrity. He has put up with grief in the past from some forum members, and has always acted in a restrained and curteous manner, far more so than moderators of other forums. For Bill to make such a statement is not only extraordinary, but quite saddening, since there is no question in my mind that Bill would and has gone out of his way to make peace with everyone to the best of his abilities.

I don't own many khukuris. I come here to an island of calm in what is increasingly a sea of chaos. It's always been different here. As Bill always says, "Good folks make a good forum."

Like some of the others, I regret that the problem has progressed to this point, but I have complete confidence in Uncle Bill’s assessment of the situation and I will gladly support him in any way I can. Bill Martino has proven himself to be a man of unquestionable integrity and incredible forbearance…if he feels that a line has been crossed, I’m absolutely certain that the offenses were quite egregious. I don’t know all of the circumstances regarding this dispute (and I don’t need to know), but I have enough confidence in Bill’s character to be certain that I’ll side with the Himalayan Imports camp. You have my complete support, Uncle…just let me know if there is anything I can do.

Jim
