top -- Chainpuri handle and Sirupati blade (like Clay and Gonesailing just got -- "HI does it again" thread) 21 inches overall length, 3/8+ thick, 1.5 inches wide. Weight 1.25 lbs. Typical excellent quality village blade (HI guaranteed), with brass inlay and scroll work and fairly well finished. Above average scabbard for villager. Karda and chakma too small but seem functional. One only.
Price $85

bottom -- sort of Dhankuta style villager -- 16 inches overall, 3/8 inch thick, about 1 and 7/8 inches wide. Weight about 1.25 lbs.
Horn handle. Grind marks clearly visible but typical quality village blade (HI guaranteed) -- strong, tough, with near razor shap edge. A bit classy for village knife -- probably made with HI and US market in mind. Pretty good scabbard for village quality. Karda and chakma too small but seem to be funtional. Three available and all pretty much the same.
Price $65

You know the routine. Interested parties email or call. Commentary posts always welcome.

Oy Vey! 21" Chainpuri handled Sirupati weighing 1 & 1/4 lb.?

The BAS weighs 1 & 1/4 lb.! Same weight, and the BAS is 15" OAL.

The chainpuri handle on my 19" Chainpuri/ Sirupati is 6" front of bolster to back of keeper. Which means the 21" minus the handle equals a 15" BLADE!!!! A blade as long as the whole BAS!!!! And the same weight. This is for those "reach out and touch someone fast" moments. Grab it before my will power fails me!

Rusty, I just measured the blade and you are right on -- it's 15 inches.

I am a little surprised this knife is still here. It's an excellent knife at a good price. Maybe the market for this size and style is flooded.

All gone and you'll never guess who got the Chainpuri/Sirupati. I asked permission to post buyer's name but don't know if I'll get it.

We will be getting some great villagers next week with luck. Gelbu has pix of village kamis who make some of these knives and if I know the village kamis these will be great khukuris. Stay tuned!

Steven Dick, Tactical Knives mag. editor, got the Chainpuri/Sirupati. Steve has been an HI customer for 8 or 10 years and owns several different models. Seems his ability to spot a good knife at a good price has not diminshed with age. Thanks, Steve.

It does look like a very impressive knife uncle. I almost took it off your hands.

Just got email from Gelby and he has shipped the village models he found on his search. Should be some very interesting offerings.

Uncle Bill

Are these village models actually from the countryside or are they being made by the Kamis at shop 2?

The village model that I have that was made by the shop 2 kami continues to impress. It is an excellant all around knife. Not a great heavy chopper like the AK or Godzilla the Salyan but certainly much better than similarly sized knives of more "American" design.

I like the look of those village sirupatis. I may need one of those next.

Mike

Mike, these khukuris were purchased directly from the kamis who made them in the village. And, Gelbu has pix of some of these kamis. I hope we are able to correlate the pix with the khukuris. This is unusual and rare provenance for khukuris from Nepal and something collectors will appreciate very much.

Clay wanted to trade the Dhankuta on something else, as I recall, which is fine. You can contact Clay direct and he will ship the knife to you if interested. Will save time and shipping costs.
