I thought that the shipping via USPS that Uncle Bill uses was fast, but I was wrong.

UB started using DHL shipping yesterday and the Dui chirra I bought from UB yesterday was sent at around 1530 hours Reno,NV. time and arrived in Louisiana today at 1130 hours CST.

That's only about 16 hours delivery time. I think you guys are gonna like the new shipping company he's using :)

Thanks Uncle Bill

For me, I'd still prefer USPS for shipments to my country. I hope this option would still be available.

I just received my end of January special WWII a day early with DHL. I can't complain about that! :)

I haven't even opened the box yet but it's next on my list. ;)

I noticed that the AK I received yesterday was in a flat box instead of the usual triangular USPS one. Trouble was, the box was torn and the khuk was ready to fall out. Whew!

...sorry Bruise, for you it's DPS (Dromedary Parcel Service) or nothing :D

Dromedary Parcel Service

I like it.

Not all is roses. Just got email from customer who said his parcel looked like DHL had hit it with a sledge hammer -- dinged buttcap and chipped handle.

I've reported to DHL so we'll see what they do about it. If they refund payment price they are okay. If not it's a wait and see situation.

Thanks for input, all.

Well that's to bad that there are a few problems. Guess I was just lucky.

Brian in chi, I wonder why yours was in a flat box? Mine came in a perfect triangle box.

Guess we'll have to wait for a few more reports to decide if it's as good as I initially thought.

When I was doing a lot of shipping, I liked Fedex Ground. They are totally different than Fedex (you need a different account) but they were always prompt, courteous, and nothing got smashed. They used to be cheaper than USPS and UPS, not sure if that's still the case.
There's also Airborne Express, worth checking out.

I think the key is to wrap the whole thing in the Reno Times. This prevents the chappe from poking through the box. It also keeps the karda and chakma from going too far if they fall out. The biggest bonus for me with the wrapping is seeing what's on sale in Reno. Goobers were on sale at Walgrens a few months ago.

I had to look up dromeadary. My vocabulary is expanding. :D

My latest HI blem arrived via the new guys. One end of the triangular box was soaking wet and pushed in. Fortunately, that was the handle end, so no harm done.

As for the wrapping, Unlce sent me a book of coupons good for discounts on meals in Reno. Yum!

DHL is running about 85 to 90% right now. A couple of reasons for change is I get a tracking number and, 2, they pick up the parcels right here at the Titanic II so that saves me the drive to the mailing service and the 30 to 45 minute wait. Attractive reasons for me at least.

Consumer email tracking is not implemented yet, according to DHL website. You have to make a tel call.
Original notification from UB is my latest package should arrive today. Monitoring for evaluation purposes only. :)

I know I will get it eventually. :(

USPS normal time, gleaned from experience; Reno ship on Mon, Arr Edgewood, NM on Wed

DHL projected delivery: Ship on Mon, arr on Thursday. What's a day, when you get to be my age.....:D

UPDATE-_---Package arrived a few minutes ago, right on schedule, delivered right to the door. Package in good condition as well as contents. Might be my imagination, but the wood handled BAS appears to be a 'little' bit bigger than the horn handle. Than again, doesn't Sher lean toward a bigger handle?
12" wood handled AK - New maker with the disputed sign, new for ME.
Thanks, Uncle

I've got a package on it's way. Shipped Monday. Still waiting. Will probably be here tomorrow.(I hope.)

Based on my experience, there's always a certain number of people who will deliberately wreck and smash any package they can, as long as supervision is not there to observe their behavior.

I observed a fella, employed as a USPS worker, throw a package of china from Japan down on a concrete floor in order to break the contents.

This was one of my first exposures to "bad" people but was not my last, needless to say I was astounded and shocked by this action.I put them in the same category with liars, cheats, and thieves.

This conduct includes UPS, even tho--- they apparently watch their people like a hawk.

I received a new Gateway computer with the container ripped open and the cpu covered with a thick coating of country back road dust.Delivery refused.

tis a shame - but happens.

For the record, I've had the worst problems with UPS Ground, while FedEx Ground has the best record with me.
