Uncle E's Thought for the Week......

To paraphrase Gilbert Shelton and the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers,

Booze and knives will get you through times of no money, better than money will get you through times of no booze and knives.

good point, i was carrying my gun with me to work but I stopped when a buddy of mine forgot to put his in the car and was fired. I do still take my bk-16, I really don't go anywhere without it.

Too many hoops to jump through here in NY to get a permit to own one, let alone carry. VT here I come. :D

Hey boss, I know at your age your thoughts are scattered, but it's been a month. Got any more words of wisdom?

Rule 1: The captain is always right...

Rule 2: If the captain is wrong, see rule 1...

Until you're feeling better here's one. "Never pick up a suitcase on the side of the road." A guy in Nebraska

I've come up with some of my best ideas and finest writing with a terrible hangover. That's not exactly a ringing endorsement and I'm not sure what it says about the way my brain works, but hey...

What ? I have mine. My kids are gonna get theirs as soon as they are 21. Whats the big deal ? References, fingerprints, mug shot & background check. Maybe an interview/question & answer session by the Judge (I had to do this), for my "Personal Protection Permit" back in 1992. It's all good. If you carry......you NEED to KNOW the law. Read it, study it, memorize it, then repeat. The person who's a** you save will be your own.

When "that time" comes, you only have milli-seconds to make your decisions. The Prosecutor has months/years to study the law, watch videos, decide if you were right or wrong, & going to jail or not. 100% is not good enough. You need to be 110% right. Just sayin'. It sucks for sure, but that is the reality of it. Even the ammo you choose and/or the make/model of your gun can be an issue or THE issue, in a court of law. I live in a Village. It is illegal to discharge a firearm inside the Village limits. MANY people in my Village do not even know that. So, even if they are justified in using DPP, they WILL be charged & face the probability of loosing their guns & permit forever. It really is scary to me, how many people CCW but do not know the law at all. My Uncle was one of them.

I understand what he did & why he did it. Yet he DID break the law. I do not agree with the law in this case, yet it is still the law. Sometimes it does not even matter. Especially in this day & age. Political & personal agendas are present everywhere these days. The Judge lives in his area & does not like him shooting, even though he does it safely & legally & it is his right under the Constitution to "keep & bear arms".

homeowner in AZ shot at a fleeing car, hitting the occupants. wasn't charged iirc.

laws vary widely. good to learn them.

that said, you're likely going to jail regardless, to 'splain yourself, they might take your gun use. they might try to take all your guns "to hold them".

your first call after the police/fire/rescue is to call your lawyer, eh?
