I didnt care for the plastic antler handle on the golden spike. I made my own out of cherry and burl walnut. Linseed oil finish gives a nice grip when wet.

I retempered the blade to make it softer, which is discussed here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1269455-Uncle-Henry-153-hard-to-sharpen Which is why the blade is dark instead of shiny. Just in case anyone is wondering.

The pommel and pommel spacers are glued together to the end of the handle. The guard spacers are still loose as they were tight. I like being able to fully remove the handle for maintenance. I've got a satin polish on the brass too.

Thank you. I am a carpenter. I've actually done another one previous, in cherry and curly maple.

I lost this knife in a house fire may 9th. I have acquired another of the same model, that im in process of making a handle for. Im not sure what kind of woods i'l use. perhaps pecan and maple for this one.

The new knife doesnt have a factory sheath with it, so i'll be making a sheath at some point. Nothing fancy. Just copy a factory sheath less the whetstone pouch.
