Hello- this is my first post. I found this forum while doing research for a new folder. My old Gerber Evo has served me well for years, but the bushings are worn and it is time for an upgrade. There is a lot of great info here, so I figured I'd join up to get some advice from the pros.

I can't seem to find a knife that fits all of my criteria. I'm looking for a folder with the following:

3-4" blade

partially serrated- I know that most of you don't like serrated blades, but I find it useful for cutting plastic straps and such.

assisted opening- Not a must, but I've never had one before so it would be cool.

deep carry pocket clip- I work in a corporate environment so this is prefered, although this is the one that I might have to give up on.

G-10 handle with flat profile

good quality and decent steel

under $100- I don't mind buying used as long as it is in good shape.

Some of my finalist (none perfectly match my criteria) include: Kershaw Random Leek, CRKT Ignitor T, SOG Flash 2, BM Nitrous Stryker (in my price range if used?)

I don't mind paying for quality, but I like a good value as much as the next guy. I don't really need a high dollar knife, but I figure that other than my watch (which I rotate between six) and sunglasses, my knife is the only thing that I carry every day. Suggestions?

Here's a quick recommendation.

Kershaw RAM (not assisted, but very fast flipper) well under $100.-

Welcome :)

Well the only thing I thought of that seemed close has already been mentioned, the RAM.

It carries pretty deep and as was mentioned it isn't assisted but it has a flipper that is different than most others and almost feels assisted. No need to wave your hand around trying to get the blade to flip out, it just pops open when you press it.

Oh yeah- I forgot to mention:

Before I get a lot of suggestions for Spydercos, I do not like the Spidey hole. Just a visual thing really. I prefer a flipper or thumbstud.

I have the Igniter, one of my EDCs.

I think the best bet is to find these in stores and see what feels good in your hand.

What about a Benchmade Barrage (AXIS-Assist) or a Griptilian ('only' AXIS)?

I'll tell ya what I am tellin everybody go to 5.11 Tactical Gear and order the First Responder knife. It is like 60 bucks plus shipping. You will not regret it. thanks and keepem sharp

Benchmade nitrous styker partial serrated is what I went with. I have 2 and they are my favorite knives by far. Works well for me and my everyday tasks sound similar to yours. I would suggest the Benchmade nitrous styker partial serrated.

Ram- I don't really like the looks of the blade- a little too busy for my tastes. Plus, like you said, it isn't assisted.

Barrage- I've considered this one, but I can get a Stryker cheaper. Which is better?

5.11 First Responder- It has a Spidey hole. I like the Investigator better. Are either assisted?

See, I 've been doing this for a week now. I can find something wrong with just about everything . Out of the millions of knives out there, you think that this would be easy.

viva la- How do you like the Ignitor? Does anyone else have an opinion on the Ignitor? It is probably the most inexpensive on my list.

The Benchmade Vex Tanto fits most of your criteria. I personally don't like tanto blades, but the regular version (the one I have) has a spydie hole, while this one uses the thumb stud. Good price, too.

If you want AO a Kershaw Blur comes in a few different blade variations and handle colors, plus it's well under your 100 dollar range. Handle isn't G-10 but it provides a very good grip.

Another vote for the Stryker. Yes, Benchmades are generally worth the price and then some. You won't be disappointed.

There is nothing wrong with the S30V Random Leek...that sounds like a good choice based on your criteria, and you almost have enough money left to get another decent knife.
