I've been wanting to buy a nice fighter knife for a while now. I wouldn't really use it, but It'd be fun to show off, and maybe carry while hunting.

Please don't say kabar, because that's what it will wind up being if I don't find anything. I can't buy a Chinese made knife. It has to be under $150, I'm looking for something under $110. Carbon steel would be great, but stainless is fine if it's not crappy.

I'm really digging tantos, double sided dagger grinds..

I really like those Benchmade Nimravuses. The 147 Nim Cub II is around $140..... can't go wrong with Benchmade

Take a look at some of Sog's offerings. I've been extremely impressed with the two that I've picked up recently. If you shop smartly, you can find almost anything of theirs under your price range. They are most all stainless, but well heat-treated and thick enough that I'm not worried about strength.

I got a cub a while back for $80 I think! I loved my Benchmade Nimravuses I lent it to a friend so he could take it to Iraq and soon Afghanistan. Great knife

My first reaction was simple... a good S&W Model 10, like a trade-in/pawned rookie gun, used to be had for $150. Those days are long gone. You cannot get a decent used .38 revolver these days for twice that. That's my idea of a 'fighter' - something 'LOUD' tha works from several feet away. Knives are tools to me... but not to everybody, thus the following suggestion.

John Greco still offers his 'MST' and 'Whisper CT' .200" 8670 steel (G10 handles) fixed blades with a sheath for $125 + s/h. John is a great guy - worked for Jimmy Lyles years ago. Check out his knives at grecoknives.com. Very well made, if not the prettiest knife you'll ever see. Functional! I have several. L-R below: Greco 'Whisper CT', 'MST', Vollmer 'Utility Knife', Buck 119 ($34 at WallyWorld), and an early Marbles Safe-Grip carbon steel.

PS Another suggestion - the Buck 650 'Nighthawk' - probably ~$65 mail order. The shortened/partially serrated 655 was available at WallyWorld ~$40.

Something by John Greco comes to mind when you say 'fighter'. I think someone has one up for sale in the exchange right now at a good price.

Moderators: is it considered deal spotting if you link to a BF sale thread?*oops, sorry, it sold*

The Buck Nighthawk is a very good value and it certainly feels like a fighter. It's certainly big enough to be used for that. Or, you could truly invest in a real fighter by picking up one of the awesome khukuris sold by Himalayan Imports. There's nothing like the ability to lop off an arm with a single swipe to take the fight out of someone!

Becker BK7 or Buck Nighthawk, with the money saved get an Izula to tuck away also, you will be in good shape.

Anyone have the fallkniven ...Garn? Garm? or the AG Russell sting?

Condor Combat Machete. Cool (looks like a gladius) AND useful (as a lightweight brush knife)

It is not hard to pick up a Blackjack 1-7 or 1-5 off of ebay for $150 or less. Classic fighter design.
