Under $300 Knife Suggestion

Spyderco Endela 20cv version and purchase some micarta scales. This would give you a good choice and still meet the price point you're wanting.

qvc.com sells a 7" nakiri endorsed by Geoffrey Zakarian for less than $25.00
It should work okay as a beginner's knife.

Hi,

My aunt asked me for a recommendation on nakiri knife for her son (my cousin). But I'm not knowledgeable about them, I'm more toward typical traditional knives.

My cousin is not in the foodservice industry at all. I think he is just more in hobby cooking, he likes cooking in general at home.

My aunt wants to get a beginner nakiri knife. I don't know what her budget is (forgot to ask), but I assumed something good for the money/affordable range
You might want to start your own thread to get more responses :)

Here are two that I've bought and used/gifted personally...it gets Dergyll's endorsement for what it's worth, both very affordable but not "cheap" by any means.

Kanetsune (really you can't go wrong with any from this brand)

Due Cigni fox

Good luck!

You sure about this?
Positive.

No they won't. Out of country sometimes, USA they will not send omega springs.

They did send springs, screws and clips to me. It was few years ago, maybe they are not sending now but they did when l called and asked for it. They also send to EU springs, screws and other small parts.
I have a Griptilian for blade replacement right now and they did evertyhing l asked them to do, pretty happyvwith their CS.

If you can't get springs from Benchmade: get them from EBay or Etsy...

Positive.

Benchmade shipped to you what you asked for. But that does not mean they will ship the omega springs to all other customers. I've read multiple posts saying Benchmade does not do that (see the post of Yo Mama that you quoted).

sharp_edge sharp_edge Ok, I don’t want to argue about this. If Benchmade was so nice to ship what I asked for, maybe they will be nice enough to ship what you or someone else is asking for.
I’m not opposing that they don’t ship Omega springs in general. All I’m saying is that when I spoke w them, they ship it to me. Twice. First time I asked them at their isle at the SHOT and some guy gave me business card, told me to call him in a week after the show which I did and received what I needed including two O springs.
Second time I called BM about some parts for a Griptilian that belongs to a friend of mine in EU. They told me that they need to speak w the owner of the knife. From this point they communicated without I being involved
They send him a smal clear bag with springs, deep pocket clip, some screws and washers. They did mail it to me by his request. Otherwise their cost would be $35 to ship to EU, with me would be free since I gave the envelope to a friend of ours, traveling to EU.
‘So yes, it might be exception but they do ship Omega springs even officially they don’t, it all depends of your approach when you call them IMO.

If you could possibly find it, the A. Purvis Xerx Integral is a great choice. Two problems are that the blade might be a tiny bit long, and the price/availability…

The Reate Iron is 3.25” and just an excellent knife. You might be able to find one for under $300 with some searching.

WE has come out with a few in recent years that might be perfect for you. Like the plain Jane model Kitefins. 3.25” of S35VN, Ti handles anodized in a range of options, not too complicated looking. Super thin and light as well.
