I would like a nice-ish fixed blade cheaper the better as i do not have an income.

Somewhere in the 5"-7" range.
I prefer plain edge.
And can take all abuse i give it.

i like the BK2 but its way to expensive i've been thinking the Condor Rodan.

Your opinions?

Really worth saving up for that BK2... I wouldn't be surprised if you could find it for around your price point on a certain popular auction site, and there are many places that sell it for only $60, so I'm not sure why you think it's way too expensive if your budget is $50. I mean, I know it's more. But it's one of the best values out there.

Condor. I don't have a Rodan, but the Bushcraft and Bushlore are excellent values. Way under $50, even including shipping.
I don't have one of these either but take a look at the Kumunga. It's a larger knife, more like the BK9, and still under $50 with shipping.

There are also some really nice hunting and utility knives in the $50 range too that would be great hiking and outdoors knives. But I wouldn't go chopping down trees with most of them (buy an ax). The Woodsman, Pathfinder, and Special from Buck Knives. Scandinavian style knives from Mora, Ahti, Marttiini, and Wood Jewel. For a lightweight hiking knife, you can't do much better than the AG Russell Hunters Scalpel or Bird and Trout knives. Maybe the best combination of steel and beauty, Queen makes some sheath knives in D2 for under $50.

Also, since you like Becker, that new Eskabar looks pretty cool.

Tons of choices out there. Happy shopping!

I don't really have a budget, i just want the cheapest price that isn't cheap in quality.
I will probably end up making my own sheath at some point for whatever knife i get.

What are the reasons BK2 is better than any other knife?

Cheaper than dirt rough use Bowie, $10 knifetests.com reviewed it. Awesome for the price.

The Rodan is not a bad knife -- and it comes with a very nice sheath.
A little bigger than your size range at 8" is the Condor Hudson Bay, but it'll take anything you can dish out.
Gerber Big Rock is also a good value, but it only has a 4.5" blade.

camp chores wood processing, food prep and maybe some traping

I can't recommend on a big knife, but I would buy a Mora w/ your purchase when you find what your looking for. I have a Buck nighthawk(This is my go to "woods" knife) w/ a Mora clipper installed on the sheath.

I know places that retail the BK2 for 54 dollars as a standard price. The Rodan is a solid beater but its performance pales in comparison to Kabar's 1095CV. Give a good look at the Kabar Heavy Duty Warthog as well.

Your OP mentions that you really like it but it's too expensive. A quick internet search shows one within a few dollars of your price limit. If you already like that one (as do tons of us), why not get it? It's a great do-it-all knife. It excels at batoning, is good (better than a 5" knife should be) at chopping, and very comfortable (and surprisingly nimble) for fine work.

Just got my BK2 yesterday. Not sure how it is better than others, but I feel chock full of satisfaction with the purchase-a sharpened pry bar that can be infinitely modified/personalized and last a lifetime...or two.

I have a Rodan. BIG handle and seems like too much handle for the blade length. No issues with durability or strength and certainly a good value for the dollar. A good sharpener can get a better edge than I can put on it. I just never really warmed to the knife so it sits in a drawer.

Bk2. Its in your price range. Its a good chopper for its size but can also do very detailed work

Mora (which are very impressive) and Buck 119 are the two picks that stand out to me. I do like my RAT 4 (now EESE)
