Under $50 fixed blade

BlackJack Grunt. Big hunk of convexed steel for about 30 bucks or so. You could probably get that and a SAK in your price range and be pretty well set.

I guess i just want to know some specific reasons why the bk2 is worth $30 more.

I'd suggest a pair of tools for those tasks, a small hatchet and either a skinning or kitchen-style knife.

I will probably eventually get a hawk

Better steel better heat treat and better warranty than anything in the same price range. Has an unsurpassed reputation on this forum and elsewhere.

Worth $30 more than what? I'm not understanding your question. Is it worth $30 more than most $25 fixed blades? I think so - it's very versatile and is built to outlast those other knives and their users. Have a look at these...

Alternatively, if you don't want a BK2 after all and if you plan to buy a tomahawk anyway, for your budget you could get a Cold Steel Trail Hawk, a Mora #1 and still have a few bucks left to spend on bubble-gum or whatever.
