Underated Buck & Overhyped Spyderco? - Some Overservations

My Vantage Pro with S30v and G10cost $58. My Para 2 with S30V and G10 cost $104. That's a $46 difference.
Thanks for the link.
I am OK with $100 Para and IMHO it worth every penny, love choil on my EDC, prefer compression to to locking liner, but $58 US made Buck with S30V blade and G10 handle looks like great value. Certainly worth attention for somebody, who doesn't want to spend $100. I hope that quality over time as good as Spyderco

Thats why im scared to buy any of the things like the PM2 the BM grip because people hype them up so much i feel like itll be a disappointment when i get it.

Understanding people will usually make their new toys they just got sound like the best thing since sliced bread because they just got it. ;)

Try to look for testing and performance reviews other than just those desktop ones.

+1... Look for serious reviews though. Not the ones that people try to cut bricks with the knife, and stab them through a car door...

Even then, the ONLY way to know if you like the knife, is for YOU to try it. If you don't like something, you can always sell it, or trade it

I love Spyderco, but I have to agree with the OP on a couple of points. I had a first generation ParaMilitary, and was disappointed with it right out of the box: not because of any quality issues, but mainly that it just wasn't for me.

And the point of being more impressed with a less expensive knife than I am with a higher end knife - that's happened to me a lot since I joined Blade Forums.

I gotta get me one of those Vantages. I keep hearing about them. ;)

I doubt you will be disappointed by either a PM2 or Grip. They have been "hyped" because both are outstanding knives, loved by almost everyone.

You just may not get that "wow" factor, because you're just getting what you expected.....again, not a bad thing. ;)

I wasn't a fan of the Para 2, but am of spyderco. Felt the handle to blade ratio on the para 2 was poor. Seemed like a big knife with a small blade. I also didn't like the handles. Whenever I white knuckled the thing it would dig into my hands pretty bad. Maybe if they contoured the edges of the handles it would be a bit better in that respect, so there aren't sharp edges.
