I got the ontario carter trinity maybe a year ago, discounted for something like $35. I was repulsed when i first got it, i thought maybe it was a clone or something. It felt cheap, light, and kind of dainty. I had already seen reviews how this knife paled in comparison to the carter bbm, when saw this price it was worth giving it a shot afterall it was still a carter designed knife.
i have really fallen in love with it as a light duty knife. The smoothness is ridiculous for washers which is also easier to clean than bearings. The lack of bearings makes me feel more comfortable using this knife with food which i do often. The knife is small and light when closed but when the blade is out, its bigger than youd think which i like. I have wanted to trim the flipper a little to give more room for my index finger but have started becoming more accustomed to it.
Im not sure why someone would compare a $50 knife to a knife that costs as much as the bbm. Its like comparing a citys minor league team to their major. Same city, different division. One should try to compare this minor league knife to similar priced knives.
While the rat 1 is still king to me for “heavy“ duty work, this has been my go to for light duty around the house.
