Undetectable folding knife--Does such a thing exist?

As an aside, I could see a legitimate reason for asking for such a thing. A small nonmagnetic slip joint would almost be the perfect "take anywhere" knife that, were you to forget it was on your person as you entered a courthouse or airport, could just be left in your pocket without much risk of confiscation.

The downside is that such a thing would appear deliberate if detected, and would likely cause some fast and hard consequences. The best thing to do is just be very mindful of where you are going in a day and choose your carry options accordingly.

Also, seriously, again, don't consciously sneak anything that could of be considered a weapon into a place that prohibits them. That's beyond dangerous and stupid - it's outright madness.

There are some all Titanium knives that are made for EOD, but they're expensive and incredibly uncommon.
(Insert standard "Don't be an idiot and try to sneak it in somewhere illegally" statement here)

Titanium is used for EOD because it's non-magnetic. It's also used in corrosive environments. The good titanium fixed blades have no ferrous metals like screws, etc. They're expensive and edge retention plus sharpening can be a minor issue.

Some metal detectors can detect titanium.

Just because you can get something past detection does not make it any less illegal. An all-ceramic fixed blade knife is still a knife.

Titanium, any metal conducting electricity can be detected.
These aren't detecting magnetic metals only.

Also if the bad guys smuggle in non metallic weapons then isn't it better if the good guys have some too? Kind of like the whole gun argument.
The more people have guns everywhere and can shoot back the less crime. Same for knives I bet. ;-)

Sorry, but I don't like the question. Metal detectors are there (wherever) for a reason. He's basically asking us to help him sneak a blade in to a court house or plane or whatever and I don't like it.

Then don't answer him. Really simple, actually.

As odd is it may sound, Google is probably a better source for this information than a band of law abiding knife enthusiasts.

I have a titanium folder and a few plastic fixed blades. I don't take them where they aren't legal. The OP even specified non-magnetic but not necessarily invisible to TSA. Maybe he's only trying to get into a bar or a concert with it.

Not smart. There are a lot of ways to spot weaponry. We aren't in business to enable illegal activity. But these items do exist and we aren't the only place to find them.

Just for fun. Imagine he takes a non detectable knife illegally on an aeroplane and takes out a terrorist saving a couple of hundred people.
Would it still be illegal or prosecuted?
Or could it change TSA's stand on disarming everybody?

The TSA's stand is not based on reason, data or facts. Therefore the effective use of a smuggled-on board weapon will have no effect on its position.

Illegal and prosecuted. A hero in jail.

TSA actually tried to allow pocket knives back on planes two years ago. The flight attendants union freaked out and TSA killed the proposal.

Germ65: A Simple Google search for "undetectable pocket knives" brought up a large number of sources who will sell them to you. So clearly they exist.

Good job :barf:

Maybe he wants a plastic knife for the same reason I bought a sword cane...for it to sit in the corner.
At least with a plastic knife it can sit in a drawer or tool box in addition to the corner. :D

If he's looking to break laws, then that's different and he can piss right off, but lots of us here own lots of useless things we'll never carry around.
Good chance he's just another guy looking to buy useless things, and let's face it, people buying useless things they don't need is what the world economy is based on.

do you follow recent news? if government sees this then op gonna be in some deep crap. especially since it involved tsa in question.
hey op be careful dont try booking any flights in atleast the next month because if government sees this thread then you buying plane tickets youll be treated as terror threat. i also suggest people stop responding to this thread as the original posters reason is pretty illegal and best not be affiliated with it in any way

THis is not the correct forum to discuss knife laws, government entities, or politically driven law enforcement. SInce the OP has a single post and all but vanished, it seems that we should close this before we start getting even more off topic.
